Last weekend, Janet told me about a website called Kiva. This is a wonderful charity opportunity, something that tends to weigh on our minds during the holidays. Kiva is a micro-lending site and is 100% on the up-and-up. You choose an entrepreneur who needs your help (maybe a cattle farmer in Cambodia, or a beauty shop owner in Azerbaijan, or an auto repair shop in Paraguay). Contribute toward their loan; even a payment as small as $25 helps a lot. Then you’ll receive updates on how the business is doing and, if successful, they’ll pay you back — allowing you to re-invest that money in someone else.
I’m thinking about having all of us here at freakgirl.com pool together to pay off one person’s loan. Would anyone be interested in that?

I’ve been loaning thru Kiva for about 6 months now (http://www.kiva.org/lender/michele2434).. it is one of the BEST things I do.
I would happily go in on making another loan!
That’s awesome, chele.
I am still in the process of setting things up, but for now, anyone who thinks they might be interested should sign up and join my team (Freakgirl and Friends):
