I have no idea what they sell for in the US, but find a nice New Zealand bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, if you like crisp whites. Something from the Marlborough region. Lots of tropical fruit, passionfruit and pineapple type aromas cut with a sharp 'green grass' sort of quality. Heaven icy cold on a warm day. I'm a big fan of Semillion/Sauvignon Blanc blends too, softer but still with the 'lifted fruit' feel. In OZ they sell for around AUS$20 for a nice one, so that like $1.50 US right?

I tend to spend over 10 dollars, but the cheaper wines i like:

Most cordoniu cava, is an excellent outfit and the good ones rival champagne

White riojas from spain. I'M a big White burgundy fan, but it sure is pricey, and white rioja is about as good a replacement as I've found.

I really like some of the less fruity provencal rose wines. My favorite, which costs almost nothing, is called Les Grand Terres from the Massiargues Atuech cooperative in the Gard region of France.

If you can get a deal on it, and you often can, I like Wolf Blass yellow label, a very fine aussy red.

I find Mercurey makes some affordable red burgundy.

Sad to say I've never been impressed with US wine, but am keen to be convinced. Given my fave wines are White burgundies (very very dry, deep flavored, not fruity whites) and Red Bordeaux (i gues smsot poepel knwo what these are like, what should I try. I'm happy to go up to around 40 dollars but ideally the 20-30 dollar range.
