Whoopie Pie!
Wednesday, March 05, 2008 at 08:50amYesterday I had an overwhelming urge to bake something, so I made whoopie pies. Although not technically cupcakes, they’re close enough, don’t you think? Also, I really like to say “whoopie pie.” WHOOPIE PIE.

OMG! WHOOPIE PIES! I’m from Pennsylvania and that’s something I grew up on! EVERY bake sale had these things…of course, some were better than others. Your’s look so lovely! It’s funny because I went to PA for a visit recently and brought about 12 of these huge whoopie pies home along with a shoo fly pie that I bought from a Mennonite store. I had to carry them on the plane. Did I get some looks when it went through security! They didn’t bother me so much but they made my mom get rid of her huge hand cream container! I brought home chocolate, red velvet, pumpkin, chocolate with peanut butter and carrot cake ones. They were delicious! Wow! Thanks for the memories! What kind of filling do you have here? Long live the WHOOPIE PIE!

Mmmm! These look very similar to what we used to love as kids…the moon pie. It’s very famous down south to have a moon pie and an RC Cola. WANT!

Stacy, these are raspberry-creme filled.
Charlie, they do look like moon pies, but the filling isn’t marshmallow.
Now I want a Moon Pie.

Um, any chance there’s leftovers?

Heh. Depends how fast you can get here. I’m exercising remarkable restraint by not eating all of them for lunch today.

I will have to make these more often! Marjon, I wish I could mail some to you!
