Welcome to 2008

Wednesday, January 02, 2008 at 09:21am

Happy 2008, ya’ll! We’re now officially into Bush’s last year in office, and it feels so good. Let’s hope that next year we’re not sitting here crying about President Huckabee. I’ll be halfway to Canada before you can blink, people. Anyway, as usual, I started off the new year with a hangover.

No need to get into details, but there was tequila.

There was even dancing.

And of course, there were cupcakes.

I spent the day napping and complaining, along with my sidekick Meena.

Hope your new year started off on a positive note. Here’s to 2008!

I am in love with your cupcake cake.

We rang in 2008 at home with a small group of our closest friends, accompanied with lots of wine and cheese and chocolate and hugs and kisses. Good times.

All great and wonderful things for all in 2008!

This morning, when we greeted my nephew for the walk to school, Ollie said “Happy 2008!” My nephew grimaced and said “Every year that goes by we all get another year older.” Ollie just looked at him and said “You’re 8.”

Apparently, my nephew was not thrilled about having to go back to school today.

Christmas was great - visited the “Christmas Story” House in Cleveland and had our photo taken in front of the MAJOR AWARD!! Very fun. New Year’s was fine - party and a post party - WAAAYY too much booze and a very hungover Jan 1st.

I will - it was so awesome. And yes - we will be getting a leg lamp for our window to add to our christmas decorations.

Yesterday was painful and I think I finally rolled out of bed about 1:00 after downing a bottle of Advil. Then it was Johnny Rockets and the purchase of a new bag that did away with my hangover blues. I am surprised that I made no offerings to the porcelain gods.

“This is the BEST ICING EVER!!!” is my motto for 2008.

It’s a great motto to have. Hi Katy!

i wish i lived near you….I would so take baking lessons. # I made cupcakes for new years and while they were yummy, they looked sad and bit pathetic. #

Tracee, what kind did you make?

  15. Katy on Wednesday, January 02, 2008 at 8:35 pm

Hey! # I really like your page. I’ve been reading your previous blogs…I love the Valerie B/Jenny Craig discussion…man, I wish I could’ve weighed (no pun intended) in on that one!

I did tequila too! I did not dance. Groove was not in the heart. But after Nicci and Aaron left, I sang Rock Band until I passed out.

Say…do you do tequila shots with lemons or limes? Settle us up an argument.

Oh, and happy new year! Wooooooooooo!

  18. freakgirl on Thursday, January 03, 2008 at 8:16 am

    Lemons!

I want to play Rock Band.

    LIMES, dammit!

It’s a bit hazy now (by reason of alcohol consumption or psychological defense mechanism….or both), but at one point my other Mom (by mindset, not blood) was sitting on my lap and there was stirring. Hey, I said “not blood!” OK, yeah, still creepy/freaky. In my defense, she was wearing great jeans and fabulous boots and her recent face refresh was very well done.

Nicci, you crazy Brits. Although, you know what, I think I’ve had both. On NYE, we had lemons.

    Michael, sometimes you scare me.

  22. Maggie on Thursday, January 03, 2008 at 12:24 pm

    I’m not crazy! Nyah nyah!
