Weekend Wrapup
Monday, June 23, 2008 at 09:29amHow was your weekend? Our was eventful. What was supposed to be a productive Saturday afternoon baking cupcakes and cleaning the garage ended up at the mall, waiting at the Genius Bar, because my MacBook’s hard drive dropped dead. So sad. But, it was still under warranty and I didn’t lose too much (I don’t keep work files or photos on the laptop, thank f*ck). While we were at the mall, though, I noticed a sale going on at the Disney store and scored a ton of gifts for all the rugrats in our lives. So that was cool.
Also, Saturday night the geekboy made me dinner (an enchilada recipe I chose from Cook’s Illustrated) and it was INCREDIBLE. I made fresh guacamole and it was delicious. And we get to have leftovers tonight.
Yesterday was my godson’s birthday party — he’s nine. I can’t believe it. Seems like just yesterday his mom and I were walking through Prospect Park, trying to induce labor. Sigh. Pictures after the jump. Click through for details.

Cupcake cake for my godson’s birthday. He loves Pokemon but I couldn’t find any good decorations here, so instead I made a candy melt plaque of his name in the Pokemon font. It was a big hit.

I let my friend’s 4-year-old play with my camera (UNDER HEAVY SUPERVISION) and she came back with some pretty great shots!

I am serious and shiny. My friend’s 4-year-old took this photo.

Saturday: Swim class w/Baby Leo—he’s the only boy in the class and he likes it that way. Spent the rest of the day outside resulting in this beautiful sunburn:
Sat. Nite: Went to 1st Day of Summer Party and it was great!
Sun.: Nursed a small hangover, took a huge walk around town, bought aloe vera gel.

FG, by the way at the party, I ran into one of Jim C.’s friends…..small world huh? I was trying to explain it to somebody who actually reads your blog and I said it was FG’s husband’s friend!

Leo is 20 months (photo is from last summer). We started when he was 10 or 11 months but, my nephew started at 2 or 3 months.

Oh, that face, that hair!
Greater Czarina on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 12:29 pm
That baby is mad cute. I want to nom-nom his little round cheeks.
Saw the wee Czarina off on her first solo plane trip to Ohio for a week of camp. Cried like a baby (me, not her) after she left. Once again a couple, the Czar and I kicked off our week by watching I Am Legend on PPV and drinking much wine and consuming much pizza. Healthy!
Sunday, we went to the Fangoria con in Secaucus. Saw the Night of the Living Dead 40th anniversary reunion with George Romero and all the major players - fun! Also saw Ray Wise, who was promoting a new horror flick. The editor emeritus of my magazine and my fiction and poetry editors were on a panel and the editor of the anthology in which one of my short stories appears was in the dealers room, so we all met up afterward for drinkies and munchies. Goofy fun!
Today, we’re off to the Brandywine Valley for a couple of days at a B&B. Wineries will be visited; tastings shall occur.

REM show on Saturday. FG said it all and I’m still hungover, so that’s all I got.

GC, have a great time in Brandywine. I know you guys will! Yay for child-free vacations!

Also, I hope that one day GC gets treated for her out-of-control baby-eating compulsion.
