Weekend Wrapup
Monday, October 15, 2007 at 09:43amHow was your weekend? It really felt like fall, even though it’s going to go back up into the 70s this week. WTF. On Saturday, we met up with Beth, who was taking care of her nephews and niece. The Crazies really live up to their name, even though Beth said that they were dialed down a bit due to pure exhaustion. We took them to a local farm, where we went on a hayride and visited the animals. We saw a calf that had been born only 90 minutes earlier. It still had its umbilical cord and blood on it. Ew. A visit to the corn maze kept us busy for quite a while, and got us in the mood to decorate the gingersnaps that Beth had made the night before (they were sooooo good).
Yesterday we took it easy, mostly, catching up on our TiVo backlog. The geekboy ran errands while I made cupcakes. I used a Sprinkles Red Velvet mix that someone had given me and now I have red powder all over my kitchen. Gross. The cupcakes taste good, though! The other day I was lucky enough to get a package in the mail from our friend Laura L., filled with Martha Stewart cupcake boxes and stuff, so I boxed some up for my parents to munch on. AWESOME! We finished up the weekend by watching Hollywoodland, which was excellent. Love ya, Ben!
The kittens are doing great and over the weekend we got them both to purr. They are still skittish and mostly afraid of us, but they have learned that they enjoy being scratched and cuddled when they are tired. Lisa visited them Thursday night and brought them two little mice toys. They drag those mice into bed with them every night. It’s too cute.

I spent the entire weekend saying no, down, don’t jump, get down, no jumping, down, no, sit, good dog, no down.

I’m not sure why, but I just love Zebras. But mixing a Zebra with a mule just looks like a dirty, dingy mule.
Did the baby food work with the kitties?

We’ve only given it to them once, on Thursday, and they got so excited one of them bit Lisa.

Actually, it was a cross between a zebra and a donkey. A mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey.
You know, because it really matters.

Oh. I’ll correct that.
I’m not America’s Most Smartest Model.

Mule, donkey, zebra, horse. Mule, donkey, zebra, horse. Mule, donkey, zebra, horse.

What worries me about mules and zonkeys is that I can’t help shake the feeling that those are just the success stories of some farmers getting high and experimenting. How many other species have farmers tried to breed that simply weren’t compatible? “Dude, watch this. Dude, watch this. No seriously, dude. Watch this. I’m making this pig and this turkey have sex. It’s awesome.”

Forced interspecies mating sounds pretty ambitious for potheads — Ima swoop in and point a finger at the drunks on that one.

What I didn’t mention about this farm is that it is literally in the center of a bunch of power lines. That’s got to have something to do with it.
Gotta love Jersey.

What I don’t get is why Michael is revealing details about his dates from this weekend?
GeekBoy on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11:03 am
Actual conversation …
Beth: “You know you’re in Jersey when there’s massive power lines running right over the farms.”
GeekBoy: “You know I’m from Jersey when I didn’t even notice the power lines until you mentioned them.”
They’ve become invisible to me.

We just watched the corn maze episode of The Simpsons.

Did I just get called a size queen?
