Weekend Plans

Friday, February 22, 2008 at 09:51am

So, what are your plans this weekend? New Jersey has finally gotten snow…there are a few inches on the ground and it looks like it will continue for a while. After that we’re supposed to get freezing rain, so that should be fun. Blarg. I will enjoy it while it lasts. Sunday is Oscar Night, and I’ll be having my annual small get-together. There will be vodka-based drinks, there will be contests and games, there will be cupcakes. There will not be blood.

And you?

Old Man Band practice tonight, which means hangover tomorrow. Em is going to Savannah on Saturday to meet her mom, so that means a juicy steak on the grill for me Sat night!!! Then Sunday they both come back to the ATL and we watch the Oscars and drink wine.

I invite Ryan every year, and every year he doesn’t show up. Jerk.

Chuck, I want a steak on the grill, please!

Tomorrow night we’re co-hosting a tropical banana-themed party with a friend who lives in the burbs.

Tomorrow, nothing. Sunday Dad & Stepmom over for dinner. We will teach them how to inject insuline into cats. So that Lucifer can stay at their house when we’re on holiday. We’re going to have meatloaf and coleslaw and something with potatoe. Not sure what yet.

    You say potatoe…

Going to a nerd convention this weekend (Wondercon), woo-hoo! And then watching the Oscars with family.

I’m still trying to perfect my Oscar menu–There will be milkshakes, of course, and probably hamburgers in tribute to Juno’s hamburger phone, but I am having trouble coming up with foods for the other best picture nominees…Tex Mex for “No Country for Old Men”? Anyone got any suggestions?…

We’re doing a testrun with Lucifer staying at their place on March 8, when we go to Rotterdam.
And on March 30 we go to one of the islands in the north (Vlieland) for flying kites and relaxing for a week.

    “No Chili For Old Men?

I like the chili suggestion! Maybe we could pile it on top of the hamburgers for extra gluttony…

Having trouble with “Atonement” as I haven’t seen it. Are there any food moments in it? As for “Michael Clayton,” there’s a moment that involves freshly baked bread, so maybe we’ll just have that.

Mmmm….bread, hamburgers, chili and milkshakes. Classy!

After last year’s dress-up as a nominee and/or oscar host and capture the evening on video tape party, we’re just taking it easy and watching things from the sofa. #

(one guess as to who called host and delivered a kickass monologue!)

Hope everyone has a swell weekend.
