Weekend Plans

What is everyone up to this weekend? The weather is kind of assy, but we have a busy few days ahead of us. Tonight I’m babysitting for my friends’ two kids — the little girl has already requested I bring over some popsicle sticks so we can make puppets together. She doesn’t know, but I also bought her a bag of adhesive googly eyes. EXCITEMENT! We’ll probably all eat pizza, color and watch SpongeBob until I want to stick a fork in my ear.

Tomorrow evening we’re heading into the city to meet up with some of the Geekboy’s friends for dinner. I plan to sit in the corner making snotty witty remarks for most of the night. I assume Susie will sit next to me. Then, on Sunday, I’ll be baking some cupcakes and heading over to Shannon & Matt’s to celebrate a few birthdays and see some more friends. At some point the Geekboy and I also need to go shopping — I need to pick up some dumbbells for boot camp and he needs a nice jacket for work. ADVICE NEEDED. I’m so out of touch — what’s a good style of jacket? He’d be wearing it with a button down shirt, nice pants (not suit pants) and perhaps a tie. I want something classic that goes with everything. Where mah gays at?

I envision a corduroy blazer with “smart guy” elbow patches. Get him a pipe while you’re at it.

  2. Thanks, Soosan, you’re a real help! #

You’d BETTER sit next to me!

You’ll have to ask Al about the jacket. He actually has a great eye for this stuff. The night of the president’s 100 days news conference, Al turned on the TV and said “That must be his favorite tie. I’m getting sick of that tie already.” Who knew?

  5. We’re going to hit the mall tomorrow and see what we can find. Maybe we’ll bring it with us and GeekBoy can give Al a little fashion show, wink wink.

Totally not the advice you were soliciting, but just discovered the CUUUTEST semi-new place on 7th between 1st and A — it’s a year old: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-bourgeois-pig-new-york. Called the Bourgeois Pig, it’s so cute inside and really nice service and awesome wines and cheeses and fondues and foods. I think you’d like it!!!

  7. Oooh, looks fun!

We have reservations for tomorrow already at Thor, but I’ll keep this place in mind.

  8. The assy weather is dead set on ruining my weekend. I have Yankee tickets for tonight (who knows whats gonna happen there) and I have to be at the Bamboozle Festival all weekend which um yea is in an open parking lot. Hooray! I’m going to be a frizz-master 5000 by the end of it all.

Emily – I’ve been wanting to go to the Bourgeois Pig for a while. Glad to see a good review.

  9. Ugh, sorry Bianca. Maybe it will clear up a little bit…

  10. Well, yesterday we gave our British houseguest for the week a whirlwind tour of Philadelphia — the PA Academy of Fine Arts, the Masonic Temple (which I’d never actually toured before, the art gallery openings in Olde City, and finally a folk sing out in the suburbs. Today I’m recovering here at work. Tonight is a science fiction writing workshop. Tomorrow we may go visit a friend in South Philly.

  11. Fun weekend!

  12. I has a meh.
