1) their local library sucks
2) they are physically unable to leave their home
3) it takes them months to read one book
Our library doesn’t have everything I want, but I can at least order the books I do want. We have so many books in our home. And I LOVE books. I love the way they smell and I love holding one in my hands and sticking one in my bag to read later. But due to space limitations, I try to avoid buying them the way I used to.
Yeah, I guess, all though it doesn’t sound like she’s looking for something online specifically…
It amazes me what people do on the interwebs. Did you see the story about the woman who tried to hire someone via Craig’s list to kill her romantic rival? I wonder if she’s ever gotten a tattoo from a door-to-door salesman with a homemade tattoo gun?
i actually feel guilty when i don’t have a book b/c i *know* i’m going to get stuck somewhere!! put me (just about) anywhere with a book and i’m GREAT! i can wait for hours and not care. without a book - i’m a crazy person, mainly b/c i know how nice it would be to have a book RIGHT THEN, you know? i’m a crazy person anyways, but i’m much better for the public with a book. hehehe
i always sell mine back to half priced. i remember one time i got $13 for some of the series i collected (and would never read again) and i was so angry at them! i cried! that’s when my boyfriend said - take your books back - we’ll get you ANOTHER bookcase….
I hate parting with books. They have to really, really suck before I’ll get rid of them. But then I do go back and reread books a number of times over usually, and my favourites a whole bunch of times. Consequently I have 7 bookcases.
I’m with you Ali, the thought of having to wait anywhere without a book makes my neck sweat. I only have an 8 minute train ride to work, but I still cram in as many pages as I can.

I don’t know. I do know it’s not the first time I’ve seen someone ask a question like this.

Also, book rental services DO exist:

I guess it’s worth it to some people if:
1) their local library sucks
2) they are physically unable to leave their home
3) it takes them months to read one book

When I sold 90-some books for like $40 to Half-Price books, it did gall me. I NEED to use the library more.

Susie, that’s hysterical. And my sister and I spent a lot of time yesterday making fun of Craig’s List Lady.
Michael, at least you sold yours. We gave all ours away.
