can someone please explain Killers-worship? with the exception of maybe 3 decent songs, the band is the worst. Brandon Flowers being the worstest (he can’t sing live to save his ass and he is a terrible performer). and i’ll never forgive the band for ruining a perfect film: for some stupid reason, the Killers got to cover Joy Division’s “Shadowplay” for the end credits of “Control” when anyone who saw that film really wanted/needed to hear Ian Curtis’ voice at that precise moment.
the Killers must be stopped before they kill again.
I loved Hot Fuss when it came out, but everything they’ve done and said since then has been a disappointment. And I completely agree about Brandon Flowers being unable to sing live — their performance on SNL was farts.
Oh, man, had to weigh in on the Killers. So overrated–don’t understand the adoration (though, as a Joy Division devotee, I hate to say it, but I liked their cover of Shadowplay, way better than Trent Reznor’s crime against humanity cover of “Dead Souls”–but my standards for covers are clearly low). Down South, we like to joke that the next Killers song will be “Are We Human, or just Douchebags making progressively worse music?” Even Hot Fuss, which I like, is basically front-loaded–I can never get through a full listening before I get bored. I second, the killers must be stopped before they kill (musical quality, the listening experience, musical enjoyment?) again.
Totally agree on their music. I love the singles/first 2/3 of Hot Fuss, and then the only other song by them I know and like is When You Were Young, so I guess that would say I am not a fan of anything else they’ve put out. While we’re on the topic of only having so many ideas and then running out – I love Interpol’s first 2 albums but have tried and tried to like the 3rd with no luck. Anyone else? Am I missing something?

“Front loaded” — perfect way to put it. I never listen to the full album, either.
STOP THE KILLERS!
