Tired and Down
Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 01:41pmI’m tired again. Not physically (well, maybe a little bit physically), but emotionally. I’ve been consumed with the surprise party and Maggie & Jeremy being here, and all the activity around both of our birthdays…our last guest (GeekMom) left this morning and I feel all empty and stuff. I have a website to design and I’m just not feeling it. I’ve been eating like crap and my body doesn’t fit me right anymore. I’m hoping that’s the last time for a while that I mention food or weight issues because, frankly, I’m sick of talking about mine and I’m sick of talking about yours. Sorry. There are more interesting things to talk about. Like Bret Michaels’ melty-face or something.
The only way to get out of a funk like this is to call the animal shelter and request some foster kittens. So that’s what I did. I’m waiting to hear back, and I’m hoping that by this time tomorrow I have furry babies crawling all over me.

That is one freshly-injected face!
Good luck with the fosters!

So I just got off the phone with the animal shelter. Tomorrow morning I’m picking up our two new babies - she said they’re five weeks old, calico, one long-hair, one short-hair, and both are “quite surly.”
I am so excited.

You won’t be able to sleep tonight!

I know! We just went out and got kitten food, and have cleaned out the guest bathroom in readiness. Meena is incredibly tense right now.

I’m on my third set of foster kittens…the first set was a feral litter. It’s a lot of fun. They stop being surly pretty quickly after they realize where the food comes from. Turns out one of my adult male cats was born to be a foster dad to kittens - loves to clean them, play with them, and nap with them. Have a great time with the kittens!

This will be our fourth (?) set, but it’s been a while since we’ve last fostered. I’m very excited. I love when they finally start wanting to be touched, and getting that first purr is so awesome.
I have to find out if they’re healthy before I introduce them to our other cats…the fosters we get usually have upper respiratory infections and they need to be segregated.

awww. Kitties! Just like puppies, only less dumb.
(I love my dumb puppies though, don’t get me wrong).

What an awesomely fun and constructive way of dealing with the blahs!

Bret Michaels’ face has a “V for Vendetta” quality to it.
