  1. I’ll say this for Burton – his movies always look good! This one should be no exception.

  2. Agreed.

  3. Chuck and his back-handed compliments. :-)

But you’re right, it really does look great.

    What a costume designer/set designer’s dream.

If it didn’t say Johnny Depp, I would have thought that was Elijah Wood!

  5. You’re right, GB – I guess I should have said that I find his movies dazzling to the eye, but completely forgettable and lacking in heart, character and story. Which would promote my previous compliment from back-handed to sideways!

  6. Heh, I didn’t even realize it was a “sideways” compliment until after I agreed with it.

I think his stories have a lot of heart (most of them, anyway). I thought Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands were particularly sweet, no?

  7. I think Edward Scissorhands did have some heart, for sure and I liked it. Big Fish missed the mark for me. But he’s made a lot of movies that all kind of look and feel the same, IMO. I liked Peewee, Beetlejuice and Ed Wood, but I don’t think he’s made anything very good since. Or maybe I’m just still pissed off about Planet of the Apes.

    Ooof.

  8. I never bothered with Planet of the Apes. Sounds like I made a wise decision.

  9. Awful.

I’ll check out Alice for sure though.

Wow, even for Burton that is creepy. Definitely see it, though. At least his work is original!

I want it to be in 3-D!
