Deb- you were probably playing “Hi Bob” at the time of the Roxanne drinking game. I never heard of it either- but man I would love to play it right now.
The Copeland documentary is interesting- but nothing really new. After seeing it I am shocked that they would even think of touring- but whatever… If it happens and you want to see it I would say get to a show that is early on the tour because I doubt it will make the whole run.
Yup, and it’s guaranteed to get you wasted in one playing. Rules: Divide into two teams. One team drinks every time “Roxanne” is sung, the other “Red Light”, they appear in roughly equal numbers throughout the song. At the end the team who drank the most wins. Yay alcohol poisoning!
I actually had a dream the other night that The Mister and I somehow got backstage passes for a Police concert (including soundcheck?), a YOOGE deal for me, what with the occasionally-obsessive torch I’ve been carrying for the frontman for the last 18-odd years.
They were performing at this :::tiny::: venue which I was super excited about, until The Mister proceeded to get hammered, run around like a crazy person, winding up becoming fast friends with Sting.
Keep in mind that I was knocked-up in the dream (as I am IRL), thus all mad that he was having all the fun and I could neither booze nor schmooze with the band or The Man. Boo, the end. :(
Sandra: I’ve Netflixed the documentary—thanks for the tip!
The Police put on one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. It was October 1983 in the Orange Bowl, and it is kinda hazy now but iirc the opening acts were The Animals and The Fixx.
I WAS backstage at a Police concert during their Synchronicity tour when I was about 12, and it was like heaven because I was obsessed and totally in love with Sting. He stood about THIS CLOSE to me and I almost died.
Cut to about 10 years later and I’m at a solo Sting concert (for, I think, the Soul Cages tour) and I fall asleep for almost the whole show. It was then that I knew I no longer loved, or even liked, Sting.
Rain–I think I’m more in love with Sting the Concept than Sting the Adult Contemporary Artist. Anytime I hear a new release of his and I realize it’s *him*, I just cringe. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. :(

Yes, I just read that – very exciting! I only hope pretty Sting can belt it out again rather than give us nothing but the mellow moves.
Did anyone get to see Stewart Copeland’s doc Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out? I haven’t yet but really want to.

Do you think they will sing Roxanne and the audience will all play the drinking game?

There’s a drinking game to Roxanne?
Where was I?

Wow, did I LOVE The Fixx in high school.

I got into them in junior high. They’ve held up well over time, too — Stand or Fall could easily have been written in 2004.

The Fixx, The Animals and The Police – WOW, best show eva! (i would imagine)
