I was thrilled to see Allen & Sons barbeque from Chapel Hill - I've never actually had the sandwich version, but the barbeque plate is...is...is...just INCREDIBLE! NC barbeque ( at least that in the Piedmont area) is pulled pork - the whole pig is pit roasted for hours and basted with a sauce of vinegar and red pepper, and they serve it with hush puppies and coleslaw. I'm absolutely salivating just thinking about it. Hmmm. Maybe time for another trip home to see the parents?

Locally, I had a fantastic sandwich for lunch the other week at Coco's in Dayton. Who knew grilled cheese could be so good? With tomato soup.... OMG:

Italian Grilled Cheese
Fontina, Provolone, Romano and Asiago cheeses on sourdough bread dipped in an Italian bread crumb and Parmesan blend, grilled golden brown.

oh lawd, the pressure! If I had to pick barbecue, it's Kreuz's in Lockhart, TX but you have to make your own sandwich--they just give you the meat and you ask for bread--no sauce. (none needed) I'm actually salivating a little just thinking about it.

I was just kidding about the snub because there is nothing from Texas which is, as we all know, the barbecue capital of the world and center of all that is good and scrumptious. (heh)

Mmmmm, hungry now.

FG, there's a Chick-fil-a at Menlo Park Mall, should you want to begin your official sammitch tour,

Can't believe they missed Kelly's lobster rolls from Massachusetts. They put the whole friggin' lobbie between two buns and they are the greatest in the world!

The Ferdi is so amazing. I got one, ate it, and the next day, tried to sneak another up to the hotel room while the missus slept. The smell woke her up...

MRS. HUGH: "Can I have a bite?"

HUGH: "GrrrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrrr..." (Growls like a starving dog. Not kidding, either.)

I liked that they put Chik-Fil-A on there. Chik-Fil-A is awesome drunk food.

Taylor Ham takes me back to 7th grade. Not in a particularly good way, sorry to say. Was there a meatball sub on there? That's how you Jersey oughta represent, IMHO....
