Temporary Clothesline?
Friday, May 09, 2008 at 10:19amAs the weather gets warmer, I’d love to be able to line-dry our sheets, towels and clothes whenever possible. Makes ‘em smell good AND saves energy. However, I’m having trouble finding a portable or temporary clothesline. We live in a townhouse and have a back patio, but we’re limited as we’re not supposed to attach things to the side of the building. Although we might be able to sneak something in…Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on a clothesline solution that would be easy to hide/store when not in use?

You can find a bunch of in/outdoor options here. Caveat emptor–I’ve never tried any of the outdoor stuff as our back yard is a “no mow” and if anything fell off, it would have to be washed again.

Thanks. I love the retractable clothesline…we would have to find a place to install it, though, that wouldn’t get us in trouble. I suppose it could be possible. I’m always afraid to write the management company and ask for permission, as I don’t like us to call attention to ourselves. Heh.

I wonder if that umbrella-thing will work with one of these stands one uses for the patio umbrella or whatever their called.

I am using cloth diapers (that I bought from Shannon via Freakgirl.com, thanks!) and I dry them on a rack that folds up. When the weather is nice, I put them in my backyard because they dry in like half the time outside. I fold the rack up when I’m not using it. It’s not ideal, but I can’t figure out how to do a line either. It looks like this:

Since when do you live by RULES, man! Let your freak(girl) flag fly, baby! String ‘em up on the patio. And get a couple live chickens so they can run around to complete the effect.

Joanne, I have a rack already (heh heh heh) — I’m looking for something I can hang an entire duvet cover on. (oh, and glad you were able to buy those diapers off Miss Shannon. yay!)
