Sugar Sweet Saturday
Monday, April 14, 2008 at 07:58amAnother weekend, another batch of cupcakes.

A cupcake cake for the Czarinette on her 11th birthday. Chocolate with pink strawberry frosting and a chocolate flower on top.

S’mores cupcake for a family dinner. Chocolate cake, marshmallow buttercream, dipped in crushed graham crackers, topped with a hershey chunk.

For sure! Maggie is getting good at cupcakes, too, so we should be able to come up with a nice batch of sweets.

I love the look of the cupcake cakes…
How do you manage to ice the top layer so smoothly?

The cupcake cake was a tremendous hit with the Czarinette and her little lady friends. Not to mention Mommy and Daddy, who managed to snatch a couple before the wee beasties devoured it. Yum and thanks again!

GC - thanks!
Soosan - you just frost it like a you would a regular cake. I make sure my buttercream is extra stiff (DIRTY) so it doesn’t ooze into the spaces between the cupcakes. And then to get a smoother finish, I dip a flat spatula in very hot water, wipe it off and then slide it over the top of the cake.
