Soosan - you just frost it like a you would a regular cake. I make sure my buttercream is extra stiff (DIRTY) so it doesn't ooze into the spaces between the cupcakes. And then to get a smoother finish, I dip a flat spatula in very hot water, wipe it off and then slide it over the top of the cake. GC - thanks!
