Michael, that’s the same thing that crossed my mind - what could these “ladies” possibly be doing for $5,500 per hour?! I mean, are their cooters lined with gold?
And just to reiterate Freakgirl’s perfect summary of Spitzer: Dumb. Ass.
All I can say is that if I ever end up in a (highly unlikely situation) where I am married to a public figure and he gets caught cheating on me with prostitutes, there’s no way in hell I’d stand by his side during the press conference!
What a douche bag. Being that I technically work on Wall St, I’ve heard his name more than I care to over the last several years, and I have nothing against someone cleaning up actual messes and crimes, but it was always obvious that he was doing it strictly for the headlines. My boss was at a dinner with Guilani and asked him his opinion of Spitzer (this is maybe 2 or 3 years ago, before running for gov) and Rudy said he stands for nothing, and wait and see - he’s doing all this just to further his political career. Now, I can’t say Rudy wasn’t calling the kettle black there, but he was right.
The thing that always stuck with me was the fact that he got most of his financial backing early in his career from hedge fund money - some connectiong with his dad, I think - and he NEVER once uttered a word about investigating that industry, which is highly unregulated. I guess he’s your typical politician.

I’m not surprised by anything I hear about politicians anymore, but this stunned me.
You’d think a former attorney general would be a little smarter than getting caught in something like this.
freakgirl on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Exactly! Dumbass.

Sorry NY, when it comes to gubernatorial sex scandals, it’s hard to beat NJ’s fave Gay American, Jim McGreevey.
freakgirl on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I dunno, it’s pretty close! In terms of pure DRAMA, McGreevey wins hands-down. But he didn’t actually break any laws.
Yay, tri-state area! Our governors can’t keep it in their pants!

Please to explain what a woman can do to me that would warrant $5,500/hour? Well, not to me, but to some guy.
freakgirl on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Ha!
One would assume that the $5500/hour would buy silence and discretion. One would be wrong, I suppose.
Beth on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 5:00 pm
For $5,500 an hour, I’d happily watch and talk sports, shoot darts, eat big plates of meat and drink my date under the table.
The “ladies” of the Emperors Club are probably providing slightly different social services…
Michael on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Discretion, sure, but for $5,500, I’d also expect you to fly me to China and fuck me on the Great Wall or something.
