That is genius. Except I’ve got one of those platform beds that’s just one mattress on top of slats, so there’s nowhere to put sheets unless I don’t mind them getting full of cat hair from under the bed…

Ohhhh. Well, hmm, that probably wouldn’t work, eh?

Rain, you could get some of those big ziplock bags.

And this idea really is genius. I felt so stupid for not thinking of it before.

Rain, me too. You definitely have to put them in bags, because, in addition to the cat hair, the wood from the slats will stain them. I don’t know if you have noticed this, but when we go to flip our mattress, there are slightly-yellow slat marks from the unfinished wood slats.

I’m totally doing this. Our linen closet it teeny.

I do this and when I first moved in with my boyfriend he thought I was insane. It’s something I learned from my grandmother, who had 6 kids… so at minimum 7 beds 14 sets of sheets. I also keep a dryer sheet with them to keep them smelling nice.

I did the bag thing and put stuff under my bed before, and the cat clawed at the bags. I have since moved on to plastic boxes…

THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! I’m totally going to pretend I thought of it myself the next time Jay and I do the bed and blow his mind.

That’s not all you’ll blow! ZING!

It’s totally pathetic how happy this thread has made me. I’m going to empty our closet now.

    Peter - ha!

I’m so glad I could make you all so happy today!

I, too, suffer from “P and P” syndrome, and we’d have to unfold the sheets to almost full openness, which would then make it necessary to lift up the entire mattress to get to the sheets, which I’m not doing, SO -

When we had three beds going in our house, we did only have two sheet sets per bed, and we stored the extra set in the room with the bed, which, I guess, is really the same solution. One sheet set doesn’t really make an impact in a closet, a drawer, or in one case, the night stand right beside the bed. Plus, it saves having to leave the room to get sheets, or even worse, going up or down a flight of stairs.

Plus, all the beds are different sizes, and it’s impossible to “organize” sheets in a closet used by more than one person, which is what prompted the need to keep the correct size sheets in the same room as the bed.

We have way too many sheet/comforter sets. Once I finally settle on a paint color for our bedroom, I’m going to get rid of most of them and settle down with a spring/summer and winter/fall combo.
