So, Yeah, That Happened
Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 07:50amLast night we ripped the padding out from under the area of the carpet where LL peed. The area underneath is concrete, thank goodness, and from the looks of it recently sealed as well. I’ve been treating the carpet (front and back) with a rotating cast of characters like Bio-Kleen, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and vinegar. The smell has dissipated but is by no means gone. I’m so bummed. I guess I’ll just keep at it for a few days. Then we’ll replace the padding and hope for the best.

What? You are not using Nature’s Miracle??? Get ye some post haste. Spray it on, and the enzymes contained therein will devour the cat pee, smell and all. Trust us, with 5 cats (one who occasionally feels the need to pee in front of all the windows to protect the house from cat intruders) we swear by the stuff. The undiluted liquid works the best.

Nature’s Miracle was the first thing I dumped all over it. Then I ran out. After doing a bunch of research online, I found more people had success w/the hydrogen peroxide.
However, I think at this point, nothing can hurt. We’ll probably pick up some more Nature’s Miracle and apply that tonight or tomorrow.

Yep, the thing about nature’s miracle is that it can take a few days to work (the enzymes literally feast on the pee) - but in my experience, nothing is better! Reapply a few times to make sure it all gets eaten up, and then you’re golden…

FG, i had issues with this when i moved. oddly enough, nature’s miracle, which i swore by with dogs, didn’t work for the cats. i used a combination of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide that worked better than you could possibly imagine!!!
i mean, vinegar stinks. but it ain’t cat pee stink!! let me know if you want the combination/times and i’ll dig for it!

ali, I’ve been using the white vinegar/hydrogen peroxide combo. It’s helped a little.

between NM and that…i would hope that would work…and i wouldn’t know what else to suggest besides a peace offering to the evil pee gods…

Isn’t it amazing how expensive NM is? We used to buy it by the gallon for cleaning up after Antny the greyhound. Nothing like a diabetic greyhound for generating gallons of pee.

Oh, Antny. We miss you.
