So, Baby, What Are You Wearing?
Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 08:52amWhat are you wearing today? I was getting dressed and sorting laundry earlier and, as I pulled on my “What Would Joan Jett Do?” tee-shirt and my I’ve-given-up George Costanza sweatpants, I wondered what the rest of you people are sporting.

Michael on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 8:57 am
I’m wearing grey lightweight wool pants, a white button down, and my favorite sleek, black loafers.
OMG, can we discuss outfits every day?!?!?
Susan on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 8:59 am
brown button down shirt, tan cords and black meshy ballet looking shoes–blah to fit the weather!
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:01 am
Michael, as I was shoving laundry into the washer and thinking about posting this question, I chuckled to myself, knowing that you would get so excited.
Soosan on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:13 am
Black tshirt, black bamboo cotton yoga pants and burgundy lululemon scuba zip up! (it’s the I’m bloated but sporty outfit)
chuckb123 on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:24 am
Brown Levis cords, brown sketcher shoes, plum short sleeved tee and a maroon hoodie. And boxer briefs, if you must know.
Lisa on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:29 am
Brown slacks, brown cami, orangey-melon v-neck sweater, and my favorite brown/orange/gold/white-stone necklace. Very autumnal.
ali on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:47 am
jeans, my charlie brown orange and gray sweater and my chucks. it’s awesome b/c everytime i see myself in the mirror, i hear the charlie brown piano song…hehehe
genevieve on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:52 am
Black sweater, blak & tan skechers, and the only jeans I can wear currently b/c I am at the point of being just pregnant enough to feel fat but not enough for anyone to notice. (After reading yesterday’s name comments, I am realizing there seems to be a baby boom among fg readers…
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:56 am
gen, did we know you were pregnant? Congratulations! There IS a baby boom among fg readers, huh? As long as it’s not me…
You guys are all so well-dressed.
kyle on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:58 am
Blue cords, Doc Marten boots, black socks, button down white shirt over a gray t-shirt.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:58 am
rowr
genevieve on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:59 am
No - this is me outing myself. I’m due in May.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:03 am
WOO! Can we name the baby? Rona is a spoilsport and won’t let us name her kid.
Susan on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:03 am
congratulations genevieve!
Susie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:09 am
Nope, we’re not ALL so well dressed, although I do have an excuse — I’m dressed to hang an art show today. Old Navy jeans, heather gray Target t-shirt and my favorite Keen sneakers. The big question is what do I wear tonight to the event? I have several cute summer dresses, but not one that works for fall. Ugh.
Congratulations Genevieve and all the other expecting FG readers! Oh, and FG, I had the same thought — this kitchen is CLOSED.
Susie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:11 am
I just noticed the title of this thread — fitting.
Soosan on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:15 am
I have Keen shoes too, it’s true love.
heather on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:15 am
Dark green shirt, brown cords, brown sweater. Entire ensemble from Old Slavy.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:21 am
Susie, can you toss a cardigan over one of your summer dresses?
Susie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:33 am
I thought of that (its actually what I did for GB’s party), but the SHOES! It’s too cold to forgo the tights, and I just don’t have the right shoes. The ones that go with the tights are too clunky for the dresses, unless I go all black (for something new and different). But I don’t want to sport the “I’m an artist so I’m wearing all black” look. Of course, you know that’s what will happen in the end.
I need some new clothes.
Lauren on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:37 am
I’m wearing jeans, a green button down, and black shoes that I hate but I’m on the hunt for black shoes for work… comfortable yet not ugly. Any suggestions?
Also, my hair is in an, it’s raining screw this pony tail. Woo!
Michael on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:43 am
Y’all look so nice!
And yes, Chuck, we must know about your underpants. I wish I could wear boxer briefs, but they always ride up on me and I get tired of pulling them out/down. I have found my boo, though, underwear-wise….C-IN2. The softest cotton and the perfect fit in a low-rise brief and the t-shirts are cut trim.
….burgundy lululemon scuba zip up…
That gave me tinglesack, Soosan.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:47 am
Susie, just wear all black and tie on a colorful scarf or a bright necklace. It’s all good.
Michael, you kill me.
sandra on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:54 am
Teal 3/4 length sleeve top with Chinese collar, brown cord skirt, black crop 3-button sweater, checker-patterned black tights (which have an annoyingly tight elastic at top that creates an unattractive crease around my middle), cute cream/brown Kensie flats and brown glasses.
And lotsa gas in my tummy.
Michelle on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:07 am
First, congrats Genevieve. I just had a baby in August. I think there is a baby boom in general. I know so many people who are pregnant or just had babies. Second, Keen shoes are awesome. Third, I am on maternity leave so I can wear whatever I want. I am wearing jeans and a planned parenthood or Naral t-shirt that says “choice” on it.
Rona on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:34 am
I’m starting to wear my maternity stuff, but I’m at that stupid in-between stage, where it’s too big and my pants are droopy. But I’ve got a pink and white Liz Lange for Target button down on, with a white Motherhood Maternity tank with a shelf bra underneath (too big right now so I’m feeling droopy, if you know what I mean) and black non-maternity pants, unbottoned and mostly unzipped and the flaps are folded in against my belly so they don’t fall down.
In other words - I look like a hot mess.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:39 am
Rona, I know you in real life. You couldn’t look like a hot mess if you tried. Try just “hot.”
Lake on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:55 am
I tried to come up with some J Peterman-esque description of my outfit, but, I failed miserably.
I’m full on LL Bean today - mid calf, straight navy skirt, white button down (wrinkle resistant, yay!) and periwinkle cable knit cardigan with some chunky healed navy pumps. Its so blah I bore myself.
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:21 pm
How awesome are those wrinkle resistant button-downs?
Soosan on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:21 pm
When I was younger I always wanted those LL Bean jeans with the flannel lining. A part of me still does.
Sandyjoys on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Today I’m wearing jeans and a red polo shirt. My husband has the same shirt in the same color, this one could be his.
Charlie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Black pinstriped suit, white shirt with monogrammed cufflinks, pink and black striped tie and Gucci shoes.
You better work!
Maggie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:37 pm
I’m wearing grey yoga pants from Old Navy and a huge, huge red Polo henly sweatshirt-ish thing that my aunt gave me. She used to manage the men’s dept. at Robinson’s May and would buy clothes on clearance for 95% off, whatever the item, whatever the size. Then she’d bring the loot when she came to visit and would dole it out to whomever wanted it.
Michael on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:38 pm
UPDATE: Off for a run, so now I’m in the lululemon Reflex short (with 3D cup!) in blue, and their No Reek Sweat Tech tee in grey, and the running shoes that make me feel like I’m in Toontown from the ankles down.
http://tinyurl.com/2edclb
We were supposed to UPDATE, right?
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Charlie, you sexy bitch.
Michael, of course.
charlotte on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:51 pm
I’m wearing a paint-encrusted gray dress, gray tights, blue striped socks, a gray target sweatshirt with a cool pattern, slippers and a big headache. Sexy.
Maggie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Charlotte, you paint in a dress? I hope you’re wearing shorts under there or else your clients might see your underpants if you’re up on a ladder!
Oh, and Genevieve, congrats!
I’m still wearing the same clothes.
Bluebunny on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Well I started this morning in black slacks, a lavender silk shirt, a black/purple/lavender (it is a very small check pattern) jacket and suede pumps. I am now in jeans, a maroon sweater and my brown stiletto boots.
Lauren on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 1:34 pm
I changed my shoes at lunch… black wedges from Target. HATE THEM. Cute, not comfy. 1/2 day shoes.
eileen on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Jeans, black short sleeve turtleneck sweater, black sneaker-like shoes. Typical grad student attire.
Rain on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 2:41 pm
A nightgown. Because I am working at home and I have a cold and why the hell bother?
Marjon on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Black turtleneck sweater, black pants, black ankle boot hush puppies.
Lake on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:03 pm
Oh yea, considering how much I HATE to iron (unlike my love for vacuuming!) - these wrinkle resistant shirts are the BEST!
Jen in OH! on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:05 pm
I am in the Official Dyke Casualwear — a black v-neck t-shirt and flannel pj pants from Eddie Bauer. When I took E for her surgery earlier (outpatient; she’s recovering & fine), I had on jeans, a gray polo over a black hoodie from Old Navy, and black & white striped Converse-style bo-bos.
Rona on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Lauren, I change my shoes several times throughout the day. Can’t really stand any of them.
FG, thanks! But my mess is a hot one, and that’s ok. I clean up ok when I put some effort into it. Hard to do that at 5:30am.
Genevieve - congrats on the babycakes! Hope you’re feeling ok
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:13 pm
Jen, your outfit sounds cute!
Greater Czarina on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 3:38 pm
Jeans, flora silk shirt that is way too light for this weather, and comfy black shoes. And newly-reddened hair…yay!
Michael on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Jen, bo-bos! I was trying to think of that the other day.
Michael on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 5:53 pm
But tell me you don’t wear the flannel pj bottoms OUT, right?
Charlie on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 7:19 pm
Who knew this would be so popular! We’re a vain bunch. I think I see an entirely new blog in our collective future. “What are you wearing Today?” dot com.
yeti on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:28 pm
I f-ed up my ankle, can’t walk. Therefore, wearing reebok training pants, Rocket Dog faux hemp sandels (one!), a “Petunia, Garage Musical ” cotton tee and my new, lowercase ny Giants hat.
Now to add to my misery and pain, (which conveniently subsides every few hours), I realize that I’m dressed worse than a pregnant lady!!!
freakgirl on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:31 pm
What happened to your ankle, pregger?
the other andrew on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:46 pm
Royal blue business shirt (on its last legs really, ::this close:: to showing collar wear), black flat front pinstripe pants, black belt, black comfy sneakerish shoes.
Public service announcement: you Old Navy types should check out the blog of the creative director of marketing for Old Navy, Landis Smithers. thetwodogblog.blogspot.com. He’s cute, his boyfriend is cute, his two dogs are cute, they go to cute places with cute models, even his name is cute. It slays me, I want to bonk him on the head and steal his life.
freakgirl on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 7:47 am
“Bonk him on the head.” You’re so cute.
Jen in OH! on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 8:16 am
But tell me you don’t wear the flannel pj bottoms OUT, right?
Only to formal events.
Stealth on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 10:41 am
I’m wearing my “I > U” shirt by Despairwear, drawstring cotton pants and my Atlanta Braves baseball cap. If you had asked me yesterday, I would have said my “W.W.J.J.D.” t-shirt. Seems we have the same shirt - is yours red or pink? (Mine is red)
freakgirl on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 10:53 am
Mine is pink!
yeti on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 2:48 pm
