Poor Mary-Kate
Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 09:44amI had to take Ashley to the shelter this morning, where she will be brought to the vet to receive a surgery for her hernia. They actually missed it while they spayed her the other week. I’m so unhappy that she has to get two surgeries so close together at her young age. The worst part, though, is that Mary-Kate is here alone, having never been separated from her sister before. She is in the bathroom crying and crying and crying and it’s killing me.

Did you ever listen to Animal Intuition on Sirius 102? It sounds a bit nuts, but after you listen for a bit, it’s kinda cool.

No! I didn’t even know it existed. Is that the creepy-ass lady who claims she can talk to your dead pets?

poor Ashley and poor Mary-Kate! At least Ashley has a nice warm little support network to come home to from surgery! How long does she have to stay at the vet? My cats send their best!

I’ll pick her up later this afternoon. She’ll be really groggy and sore - I hope Mary-Kate is nice to her. They spend every evening beating the crap out of each other.

She’s British, and she talks with your pets who are still alive. This morning a woman called about her cat, and AI lady said, “Her blue blanket…she loves it” and the woman was like, yes, she has a small blue blanket on her bed, and AI lady said, “Yes, don’t ever get rid of it, and don’t wash it too often.” Funny stuff like that.

Poor Ash & MK.

Aww, sending good vibes to el fuzzo

Rona, that’s so funny. I wonder what she would say about Meena. “Get out of the house. GET OUT OF THE HOUSE NOW!”
freakgirl on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 11:40 am
I’m letting MK run around in the office to keep her quiet.
Soosan on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 11:47 am
careful! or she might do this to your laptop…

(that is my brother’s unlucky laptop)
freakgirl on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 11:53 am
Holy crap! No, I will not allow that to happen!
She just keeps running around, exploring, but comes back over by me every few minutes just to make sure I’m still here.

Oh, I want to eat her up!! She’s too cute.

She is so cute. I had planned on having Jeremy neutered and Nia spayed at the same time (this Thursday actually) to avoid the trauma of them being separated from each other, as they have also never been apart. I even requested they be put in a cage together or next to each other at the vet. Then I found out that Jeremy can come home the next day and Nia has to stay at the vet for two days, so despite my best intentions they will be separated. I am most worried about Nia. Jeremy will have me around and will at least be in his home environment, but poor Nia will be alone in a strange cage. I am hoping she is just so doped up that it won’t be super stressful for her.

She will probably be groggy and too sleepy to freak out. If they sleep together, let them nap on a towel for the next few days, or maybe one of your t-shirts (with your smell on it). Then put that in Nia’s carrier when she goes to the vet. It might help her stay calm. I sent Ashley’s favorite toy with her today.
Bluebunny on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Good idea. I had planned on putting a t-shirt of mine in their carrier for comfort, but it would also be good to have Jeremy’s scent on it.

It’s cracking me up, the way you guys are talking about Jeremy.
I need Mary-Kate. Look at her! Aw.
Cuba’s gotten so fat that when Rochelle came over she was stunned. And Pippa apparently decided to grow some more that she looks like a freaking horse next to Cuba now, despite the fact that Cuba’s gained weight.
They’re going to eat us.
freakgirl on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 1:50 pm
I hope they don’t eat you!
Mary-Kate is going to be huge. I wish I could look into the future and see her grown up. Her feet are like giant mitts.
I put her back in the bathroom because I need to go work out and, as I discovered her chewing on a wire, it’s not safe to leave her in the office alone. She is SHRIEKING in there; it’s killing me. Hoping she falls asleep soon.

That picture is too adorable!
I wonder if Mary Kate is part Maine Coon cat? I’m pretty sure my cat Byron is because he has enormous feet, tabby stripes on his head, and a big plumy tail, but (sadly?) he only ended up being a 12lb cat when full grown, instead of the up to 30 that purebred males can be.
freakgirl on Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 3:16 pm
She does look like she’s got some Maine Coon, I think. Her sister is just straight up calico short-hair, though.
Jill on Wednesday, November 07, 2007 at 4:13 pm
Ummmmm…. she’s like, THREE inches taller than she was when I met her LAST WEEK
freakgirl on Wednesday, November 07, 2007 at 4:25 pm
I know, right?
