Please Send Good Thoughts
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10:07amI just had to rush Ben to the shelter after he began abnormally crying in pain when picked up, exhibited some breathing difficulties and then fell over on his side. To say that I am in a blind panic is probably an understatement. When kittens do that, it usually means…well, it doesn’t mean anything even remotely good. By the time we got to the shelter, though, he was sitting up again and had stopped panting. Which is obviously very good news. However, he will need to go to the vet to find out what’s wrong with him. We won’t know anything for a few hours at least. Let’s hope he just needs some meds and TLC.
I forget how easily these little creatures can break your heart.
UPDATE: Benny is home now. He has pneumonia. Poor little boo. He’s on meds…let’s hope they work.

I hope he’s ok. That is my nightmare, having to rush one of my little furries to the vet. Poor little one. I’m thinking of him.

Poor Benny. I feel so guilty about my comments earlier. I am so sorry, baby boy.

Don’t feel guilty! (He can’t read)

I just want to curl up under my desk with a bag of potato chips and a tub of ice cream. Who’s with me?
Sandyjoys on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:02 am

I’m not a cat person, but any animal in distress just breaks my heart to pieces. Hope the little monkey is ok.

Here’s to hoping it was just real bad gas and that it will pass.
freakgirl on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Mattie’s snuggling on my lap right now.

Ben! You could always tell he’d be the one to give you heartache.
Hope everything is OK, doll.

Get well get well soon, we want you to get well!!
Lee on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Awww, Ben. I’ve nursed some pups through it and while not fun, all of them have made it. Did they give you a nebulizer?
Sandy on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Thanks for the update - Ben is lucky to have a foster family who takes such good care of him. Give him a scratch under the chin for me.
freakgirl on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Lee, no nebulizer. I have the humidifier on in their room, though.
Greater Czarina on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Awwww, so sorry and sad. I hope the little sweetie is feeling better soon,
freakgirl on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 6:10 pm
He isn’t doing very well. I’m hoping he improves overnight.
Bluebunny on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Poor little guy - my fur babies and I are sending positive thoughts.
El Gato on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I’m sending good thoughts his way.
Lee on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 6:54 pm
The humidifier will help. The nebulizer just gives them meds through the air (very much like a humidifier that you attach to a crate). I actually have some of the stuff for it in my refrigerator–I wish I could just bop on over and give it to you. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for the little guy. It’s a toughie, but not totally impossible.

I never realised cats could get pneumonia. Get well kitteh!
freakgirl on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Ugh, he’s just so weak and pathetic. I can’t stand it. I can’t stand it.
He took a few laps of kitten milk but it exhausted him. I finally just left him alone so he could sleep…I’m having a hard time not checking on him every five minutes, but he needs to sleep. If his brother would give him a break for two seconds!
Sandyjoys on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Poor little bug. Poor foster mama too.
