Please Allow Me to Brag for a Moment

I’ve been pretty slack the past few weeks about my workout regimen. My eating habits are sloppy, I’m not sleeping right and my workouts are more infrequent than frequent. However, I’ll be going back to Boot Camp in mid-September so I’ll be fine. I started working out again yesterday, and I plan to do some biking with my friend Whitney while I’m in Florida this weekend. That’s not the big news, though. A few minutes ago, I crouched down on the floor to see if Meena was hiding under the futon (she was). While I was down there, it made me think of the Crow Pose in yoga, something I tried to do for nearly a year with absolutely no success. I know I’ve built up some upper-body strength over the past few months due to Boot Camp, so I thought I’d be silly and give it a try.

I DID IT! I DID IT!

It wasn’t for long and it wasn’t pretty, but my feet left the ground and I was able to hold it a bit. This is what Crow looks like:

I’m sorry, but I am so fucking proud of myself right now.

  1. awesome!! (now you and Madonna can be bffs….)

  2. I am impressed. As I’m sure Meena was.

  3. Wowee! That’s great.

What was that pose we were trying to do last year, and you had me on the deck face down and I couldn’t get back up? (we were drunk)

  4. I think it was bridge pose. Damn, that was funny.

I love to do yoga when I’m drinking.

  5. Actually that one isn’t face down. Maybe it was plank?

  6. Wow, that is pretty amazing! I would be super proud of myself too if I could do that!

  7. Woot woot – Sheree would be so proud!

  8. Standing ovation from me. ;)

  9. Impressive.

  10. Congrats – crow was one of the poses that I really wanted to be able to do when I started yoga. I think it’s a stronger core that is helping you do the pose more so than a stronger upper body (which doesn’t hurt), I noticed my crow improved a lot after I’d done pilates for a bit.

Focus on your core the next time you try it, it might help you hold it for a bit longer.

  11. Actually, you know what — yes. Because after I practiced it a few times, my abs felt it more than my upper body. I really thought it was an upper body move, but now I see it’s more just overall strength and balance.

  12. That’s awesome! Congrats. I’ve been attempting this for an eternity.

  13. I told you your guns were rockin’. That is AWESOME!
