GB I’m from that same school and I find this a little blatent and indulgent on behalf on the writer’s “outing”.

I too love the brilliance of the “gift that keeps on giving” that you ref. earlier (just what this society needs!) but from a subtext standpoint, there ends that literary discussion.

Well … I’ve always been a little worried about the fact that Rupert spends so much time with all those freaky animals.

As for the method that the bunnies call “character development” … speaking as a recovering English & Creative Writing major, it’s my opinion that in any good writing, said development can often happen between the lines. Otherwise, it would be almost impossible to write a decent short story without getting bogged down in exposition.
