New Desk, New Roomie

So last week, I bought a new desk at Unclaimed Freight. I am going to be moving my home office into the loft. Why, you might ask? Because I am getting a roommate! Miss Lisa has decided to join me here at Freak Central, taking over the second bedroom.

It should be absolutely fabulous. She’ll move in right after Christmas.

The desk was delivered in a flat box, along with a 38-page instruction book. No words, just pictures. It took my father and me about six hours to assemble it. We only broke one piece and my dad only got one puncture wound. It is so heavy that I don’t think we’ll ever be able to move it out of this house. After I get another electrical outlet installed in the loft to handle all my office equipment, I’ll slide the desk more to the middle of the wall. For now, though, here’s what the desk looks like:

I like it because it is almost the same color wood as the banister, and looks more like furniture. The workstation I use now is gray metal, you see. Utilitarian, yes, but not pretty.
