New Crap

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 09:17am

I went shopping yesterday with my mom, who treated me to some very cute new cargo shorts and some cropped pants. I know that the What Not To Wear people say that short women shouldn’t wear cropped pants, but they can suck it. I like them. I also picked up this adorable dress at Target. No idea why they cut off the model’s head, unless it’s an homage to Britney on South Park? Also grabbed some new makeup as well - has anyone used the Sonia Kashuk brand before? I adore the packaging, the way it all screws together into one piece!

Last night I dyed my hair, too. The color is nice but I think I’m ready to go a little lighter next time. I used this color but obviously it goes on darker on brown hair.

I don’t know why I just told you all that, but there you go.

LOVE the dress! I’m curious to hear about the makeup as, I’ve been thinking about getting some mineral base makeup—wonder how it interacts w/wrinkles, pimples, etc.

In the “What Not To Wear” Department, I bought these extra long shorts from the Yoga Store Which Shall Not Be Named. They’re not exactly capris-length, but close, and in a stretchy fabric best suited for working out, but I’m totally wearing them everywhere and the haters can suck it.

    Love the dress!

    1. Super cute dress.
    2. Feel you on the capri-length stuff…I wear them once in awhile.
    3. I was wondering about Sonia Kashuk’s mineral stuff. I’ve used Bare Minerals for a couple years and loved it…just wondered about the lower priced alternatives. You’ll have to let us know how it works. I’ve only ever used her nail polish and some lip stuff.

I’ve been using some of the infomercial mineral stuff that I bought on eBay. I like it, but the pots are too big and I don’t use enough before it dries up. I’ve noticed it’s starting to look kind of powdery now.

However, when it was new, the mineral makeup worked very well. It’s quite long-lasting and really evens out your complexion. And it’s natural-looking. So I hope I’m happy with this stuff too.

I’ve wanted to try that mineral makeup, but don’t know what to buy, or where to buy it. If I can’t get it at the drugstore, I tend not to get it at all.

I am a capri fan! I can’t wear shorts because I don’t like my thighs and if anyone tries to take my capris away from me I will hurt them.

    That dress is lovely!

I love using mineral foundation! I’m an soooo not a makeup type of gal, so I really like how it makes a difference without making you look artificial.

I also enjoy how “What not to wear” is often that voice in our head when we buy clothes that we know don’t follow the rules. I want to be on that show, but then I’d lose all my hoodies.

Maggie, I was just at Shoppers and saw that Maybelline has a line of mineral makeup. I have no idea if it’s good or not.

Hugh, I saw that this morning! Crazy. It took her more than a year!

Thanks Sandra, I will check them out! Shopper’s lets you return makeup if you don’t like it!

I have tried the Maybelline line of mineral makeup and it is ok (I bought a shade too dark for me as I am pale as a ghost).
I like the Loreal mineral makeup better (just the right shade for my ghostness). I dust it on over some moisturizer (Olay Regenerist Serum) and it stays on a lot longer than if you put it on by itself.
Not totally impressed with the light coverage of either brands cause my skin it so bleah but Loreal wins for quick trips out and about.
The dressyou bought is in my favorite shade of green #

P.S. I you decide to use a moisturizer then let it “set” into your skin before putting on the mineral makeup.

I bet that dress is the perfect compliment to your hair color! I thought that when i saw the dress and then I saw you touched up your color too!! Beautiful combo!
