I’m facing the same decision today. I’m on vacation in Akron and the ladies are going shopping. (hit Cedar Point yesterday and going to Indians game tomorrow!) I may wait till I get back home to see Pineapple Express so I can have the required, ahem… extracurriculars that movie deserves.
I hope you like PE. I was really really disappointed with Forgetting Sarah Marshall – the rockstar boyfriend was the only character I really liked. I think we’re going to try and see Tropic Thunder this weekend.
Ugg. I HATED Pineapple Express. It was waaaay too long for what it was and Seth Rogen was obviously waaay too high when he came up with it. Imagine hanging around with a bunch of 19 year-old stoners for 2.5 hours. That’s Pineapple Express. Perhaps funny if you’re a 19 year-old stoner, but that’s about it. Save your money. Not one of Apatow’s best by far. Although I did laugh maybe twice, but most of the time I was looking at my watch and secretly hoping the bf would turn to me and say, “Let’s just go.” I think he was saying the same thing.
After deciding not to decide, I just got back from a PE/TT double feature. Agreed that PE wasn’t so great. It had its moments, but I was a fairly disappointed. Tropic Thunder? HYSTERICAL. I’ve loved Stiller’s brand of humor since his show and this one didn’t let me down. Scene stealers left and right – LOVED it.
We just got back from Pineapple Express. I really liked it! Although it was a lot more violent than I expected. However, I thought Danny McBride was genius. And James Franco was killing me.
We saw Tropic Thunder on Friday night. It is hysterical! I’m easily amused, generally, but my husband is a big grouch, and even he was laughing his ass off. I seriously can’t get the image of Tom Cruise in a fat suit out of my head. I want a little widget in my sidebar of him doing his little dance. PLAY ON, PLAYA.

I saw Tropic Thunder at a screening earlier this week, it’s pretty funny. Dripping of satire! Oh, and Tom Cruise in his cameo steals every scene!

I definitely want to see that.
However, we’ve decided to go for Pineapple Express. Then we’re going to come home and watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall. An Apatow-themed day!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is great though.

Even though you made your decision already I was going to say go for P.E. as well. I enjoyed it much more.
Have fun!

Can’t wait to see Tropic Thunder, too.

Okay, just finished watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Really nice movie! It had what Pineapple Express was missing — heart.
Also, I may never recover from the sight of Kenneth the Page nude. Please, help me un-see.
