Well played.

I JUST finished watching that episode of 30 days and that woman made me want to reach through my TV screen and shake her. She had no answer except for “I believe it is wrong and God has told me so.”
freakgirl on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:49 am
And when anyone truly questioned her on it, she freaked out and started crying, saying that people were being unfair and ganging up on her. If you can’t defend your own beliefs, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at them, eh?

He ends with a defiant statement, but his face shows the pain of hearing that shit all day long. Or am I reading too much into it? And he’s a grown-ass man. What makes me want to cry is thinking of all the kids who get that shit piled on them when they aren’t as well-equipped (hardened?).
I really love that guy.

I love him, too. And I don’t think you’re reading too much into it. It’s defiant but it’s a defiance that comes from pain. I felt it, too.

Yeah, that woman made me quite angry. I firmly believe that being gay is not a “choice,” so whenever people refer to it as such I just want to be able to ask them “Well, when did you ‘decide’ you were straight? What? You just know you are?…well…EXACTLY!”
freakgirl on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 1:41 pm
That argument doesn’t work. I’ve tried.

Michael, I totally don’t think you’re reading into it AT ALL. I felt so sad after watching that. I tried to post something right after I watched, but I really couldn’t think of anything to say except Yes! It is really that simple! I mean, I think that what the religious right believes is immoral, but their beliefs are NONE OF MY BUSINESS. So why is it that what I believe or who my friends and family are is up for grabs? And it’s not just gay adults and kids who suffer from this kind of hatred — the children of gay parents are basically being told that their parents are unfit and immoral. How can that not be damaging to a child? How is any one of the gay couples with children in my town any less a family than their straight neighbors and their kids?! AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH. I’m so mad now. This is why I always stay away from these threads. I end up spewing rage, and it’s not like I’m saying anything new.

it’s ironic that the only hatred that kids in homes with gay parents will experience will be the people (and their kind) interviewed on this video. b/c without them, no one would think twice about it. and i’ve yet to meet a soldier who wouldn’t defend himself or one of his fellow soldiers b/c of something so personal and, in a battlefield, something so completely irrelevant, as sexual preference. they have much bigger things going on around them.
when i first watched this video, i kept thinking - who is that poor guy? and why are they making him listen to all of this? jeez, he looks hard and tortured all at the same time. this is sick.

Oh, it’s only going to get uglier since this is an election year and all.

Oh, that b*tch from 30 Days set me off. I was screaming at my television with rage usually reserved for the Commander-in-Thief.
That video is incredible. Thanks for sharing it.

The bit between 2:00 and 3:20 was very annoying.
