Michael Richards

I’ve been avoiding posting about the whole Michael-Richards-racist-tirade thing. Unless you live under a rock, you’ve already heard about it. I do have to say one thing, though. Have you noticed that almost every news article about the incident called him “Kramer” in the headline? (ex. 1, ex. 2, ex. 3) Kramer isn’t a racist freak; Michael Richards is. The man is filled with rage, and I would be willing to bet it’s partly because, years later, even when he causes a national incident, people still don’t know his real name. Related article. On the radio station I listen to, they were very careful to correct the callers who were calling him “Kramer.”

Good! I’m glad you said that, because it’s been driving me nuts.

I think it’s funny that they’re calling him Kramer. But that’s just me.

It IS funny, but it’s annoying at the same time. I mean, I’m sure that Adam Brody isn’t thrilled with the way I keep calling his house and asking for Seth Cohen.

any bets on who will be the next celebrity to go on a racist, bigoted (likely sexist, or homophobic) tirade, then claim that it was not how he (or she) actually feels, it’s just the rage/liquor/drugs/animated seisure-inducing cartoon robots that caused it, and that they “are really torn up about it”?

If it was Gary Burghoff, they’d be saying “Radar’s Racist Rant!” Or if it was Gavin MacLeod they would have said “Captain Stubing’s Hate Boat!”.

I would totally book passage on Captain Stubing’s Hate Boat. I bet they’d have Carol Channing aboard. She was dissing the gays just last week.

    We made her, didn’t we?

We made her, we can break her just the same! She’ll be first against the wall when the revolution comes!

In The Running Man (I love that movie, laugh if you must), one scene has Richard Dawson in his office on the phone and behind him he has a poster for a tv show called The Hate Boat.
