My daughter and I went out for a peek. Here in Calif. we were due rain (got the rain today) but it was still clear for us to see (except for the stupid street light ).
Creepy space worm!
Next lunar eclipse is 2010.

All we would have seen was big clouds, so I didn't even try. I'm told big clouds do not look like lunar eclipses.

I saw the beginning part of it around 9:00. Pretty cool.
Lunar eclipses are actually much rarer than solar ones, but when they happen they can be seen by an entire hemisphere. Solars happen almost every year, but often in pretty obscure places.

We actually had the same good luck -- the sky was perfectly clear, and the moon was right there in our guest bedroom/office window. But I still ended up going outside to take pictures, because the double-pane glass was messing things up.

Yes, I watched it via 20 to 30-min intervals, though froze my ass off doing so. I took some photos as well, but my camera is super crappy even in the best conditions and didn't do well. Each one was blurry, though not as cool and space-worm-like as GB's!
