Last Night, In The Swamps of Jersey…

Wow. Last night was epic. We left the house at 4:00pm and arrived home close to 3:00am. Insanity. A propane tanker accident CLOSED the NJ Turnpike yesterday afternoon, causing all sorts of mayhem. A huge thanks to every one of you that emailed or called me to let me know. Beth got in touch with us first, thank goodness, because we had no idea. We were about 5 minutes from getting on the Turnpike when she called us with an alternate route. It ended up taking us a bit over two hours to get to the stadium (it’s usually a 50-minute trip).
But all was forgiven when Bruce took the stage. My friend Jon texted me from the section below us, saying, “It’s a perfect Jersey night. Not a star in the sky.” Ha! I was hoping that I would hear Rosalita last night, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d EVER get to see Bruce & The E Street Band sing Jersey Girl. I believe my last text to Beth, who was down on the floor, was “Holy crap.” Okay, Springsteen fans, I get it now.
Setlist and video can be found here.

Was this your first Springsteen show?

It was my first Springsteen & The E Street Band stadium show.
I saw him once before, but it was a warm-up show with the Seeger Sessions Band in Asbury Park:

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Yeah - that doesn’t count.
Actually, the Seeger sessions thing was very cool, but you know what I mean now.

Wow, killer set list. Nice mix of old and new. I’m jealous– I think Born to Run was the only song he played in Philly from that album, and you got a majority of it. I think he saves the best for Jersey crowds… :-)

Oh, thank Dog someone reached you! I couldn’t find your cell number (I recently changed phones and some data was lost), hence the message on your home phone. Glad it worked out and you had such a great time!

That day was hell for my commute. I wasn’t going to the concert but I was going the same direction as everyone else from south jersey who was heading north on the parkway. All the overflow from the turnpike went there. My normal 40 minute commute home took over two hours. Then when I had to go out later, assuming it would be clear by 9pm, got back on the parkway to a parking lot again. I took the next exit and just went right back home.
Glad you made it to the concert though!
