Katherine Heigl, Still a Bitch

Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 08:24am

It’s no secret I can’t stand Katherine Heigl. In every interview I read with her, she just comes across as a nasty person. Her latest comments, where she basically tells the world that the Grey’s Anatomy writers suck, really take the cake. I look forward to next season when Izzie falls down an elevator shaft, à la Dr. Drake Ramoray.

She’s even more unlikeable than Izzie, and that’s saying something.

It’ll be fun when her “film” career fails in a few years and she has to return to series TV and do a sitcom called “Katherine”.

    I love her.

    Of course you do.

I find it strange how she came out against Knocked Up saying it was sexist, then was in that bridesmaid film, which really seems cliched and stereotypical. I think she’s mostly just an idiot.

Hey know, be nice. I’ve never seen Grey’s Anatomy and the only time I’ve personally seen her in the press is when she supported her gay co-star and told Isaiah Washington to shut the fuck up and when she went hardcore for the writers during the strike. And I loved Knocked Up. So I like her, sue me.

Chuck, I said “of course you do” because I know how you like to CONTRADICT ME at every turn. #

I loved when she defended TR against Isaiah, totally.

I know she supported the writers, but what was hardcore about it (what did she do more than others, I guess is what I’m asking)? I think that’s the reason her comments are so appalling to most of Hollywood — she supported them during the strike and then she just basically shit all over them.

I like her! I can’t help it. She’s pretty and she doesn’t look like a skeleton, unlike the 25-and-under Hollywood set.

  9. freakgirl on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:21 am

Hey, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But I CAN’T STAND HER.

  10. chuck on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:21 am

God forbid I not agree!! #

I know she’s outspoken and I know what she said about Knocked Up and all that, but I find her kind of honesty refreshing in Hollywood, to be honest. She kind of calls people out on their shit and I like that. I have no problem with her saying “it was shitty and we can do better.” Plus, from what I’ve heard, Grey’s did suck this past season, but I don’t watch it so I can’t say. I doubt it’ll make her a favorite among the writing staff, but everyone in Hollywood is always bending over backward to fellate and congratulate anyone in “the club”, so I don’t have a problem with her Emmy shenanigans. Plus, I like a tell-it-like-it-is chick with a bit of bitch thrown in. But that’s just the kind of game I bring to the table.

I’m with Chuck. Katherine Heigl has the most outspoken tits in town. I could listen to her breasts tell it like it is all day long. When her boobs stand up against homophobia, it gives me goosebumps. As long as she doesn’t talk. Because from the few times I’ve seen her on Grey’s Anatomy, my GOD is she the most annoying full-of-herself character ever. Having said that, I don’t think rejecting an Emmy is the classiest or most tactful way to criticize writers who have helped you get an Emmy in the past. It’s just going to win you enemies, and it smacks of a stunt to get your name in the press.

  16. chuck on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:59 am

I firmly agree with GB’s comments on her breasts. And it’s high time someone around here brought that up!

Maybe her character is so annoying and full of herself that she’s sick of playing it…

    (all together now)

…ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!

  17. freakgirl on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 am

Heh, “I could listen to her breasts tell it like it is all day long.”

Granted, she is not her character and I try to base my opinion on how she conducts herself in interviews and such. But Izzie IS awful and you have to wonder if the writers just don’t know how to deal with Heigl. I imagine she’s not the best team player in Hollywood.

  18. anna kathryn on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:02 am

It’s a weird choice. Why not just submit some crappy ep and not get nominated? It’s almost like she knew she wouldn’t get nominated and wanted to head off the rejection.

I do think it’s a passive-aggressive “suggestion” to the writers though. She’s wanted out of her contract for a year or two so maybe this is the way to do it! Get written out. Either that or stay stuck and continue to get shit on via storylines.

Anyway, sometimes I like her sometimes I hate her.

  19. Michael on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:05 am

I’m all for being a little bitchy and outspoken, but removing herself from Emmy contention? Could she be more arrogant/insulting?

Oh, I don’t think my work deserves it and I don’t want to risk that the poor, stupid Emmy voters won’t realize that.

Bitch, please. I thought that shit was a stretch when Oprah did it, and Heigl, you ain’t no Oprah.

All that said, I also love her breasts. And hair.

  20. Michael on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:06 am

PS And she all but says that she would have done Emmy-worthy work, if not for the writing? Yuck.

  21. chuck on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:15 am

Well, she did win an Emmy when the writing was better. I’m just sayin.

Bring it, Heigl. I’m in the Howard Stern camp. Tell that shit like it is. If the writing sucks, tell everyone it sucks. If these pussy-ass writers can’t take some criticism, go work for the Bush administration.

And for the love of god Katherine, take your top off.

  22. GeekBoy on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:33 am

Chuck, the flaw in your argument is that she’s NOT actually telling it like it is. If she came right out and said, “I believe that the writers dropped the ball this year, and the show’s not as good as it used to be as a result,” I’d still think she was being a bitch, but I’d at least respect that she was being honest. Instead, she’s hiding behind some bullshit PR-speak: “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.” That’s almost a criticism … but not quite. It points no finger, and it doesn’t quite commit itself. We have to infer what she means. It’s like saying to a chef, “I wasn’t quite given the materials needed to enjoy this meal. So I’m going to go vomit it up now. In public. On the news. And by the way, thanks for the entire year’s worth of other really great food you gave me. That was awesome.”

  23. GeekBoy on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:38 am

Also, if she won an Emmy when the writing was better, then she owes those writers some loyalty. She doesn’t have to just keep her mouth shut and pretend the Emperor is wearing clothes, but she could exercise some tact. Otherwise, she really shouldn’t expect any writers — on Grey’s Anatomy or otherwise — to look out for her. And by her own assessment, writers can make or break an actor in Hollywood. I’d think you’d want to nurture that relationship, rather than find ways to shit on it.

  24. chuck on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:43 am

I’m not arguing anything. Honestly, it’s just my opinion. As far as not telling it like it is, I have a feeling she’s very much told it like it is to the people that matter — and in private. In fact, I bet she’s done it more than once.

  25. freakgirl on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:51 am

Let’s not turn this into a debate.

Let’s just all agree that Katherine Heigl is an outspoken woman with nice hooters who tends to polarize blog writers and readers.

  26. GeekBoy on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:54 am

If that’s so, then at that point, you collect your multi-million dollar paycheck, do your job, and do other better-written movie projects on the side — you know, like “27 Dresses” — until your contract is up. Then leave the show. I have all sorts of issues with the company I work for, but I don’t put out press releases letting people know what they are. Hollywood is a business like anything else, and artistic integrity should never trump plain old professionalism … boobs or no boobs.

  27. chuck on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Actually, Hollywood is about as far from being like any other business as it can be and artistic integrity has ALWAYS trumped professionalism in the film biz, like it or not. It may not be admirable, but it’s fact. Hell, being pissed off about the quality of the craft service table trumps professionalism in Hollywood. The movie business is a back-stabbing, two-timing, lying, cheating, stealing, gossiping, tantrum throwing, unreasonable demand making industry. They go to war through the press and there is very little loyalty. I’m not saying that it makes any of it OK or anything, but it’s just the way it is. If you think Heigl is a big old bitch for doing this, that’s fine — you certainly have an argument for that opinion, but to pretend that the movie business is or should be some uber-professional, above board thing just isn’t realistic.
