I never thought of the water trick...I'll have to try it! Luckily it's just a simple blanket, nothing complicated like a sweater or something that has to fit. Do you mean the cable attached to the needles twists? If it's that, straighten the cable by dipping it in or pouring very hot water over it before you start. My grandma made us some very large blankets in her day, and never used anything but standard needles. Granted, she had to squish it all on the needle, but I'm thinking I might try that the next time a pattern calls for the circular needles. I just hate how it twists.
