Or you could use addi circulars or the knitpicks interchangeable needles! They have nice flexible cables.

I love me the knitpicks interchangeable ones. I have the harmony bamboo set.

I meant the cable that's attached. I never thought of the water trick...I'll have to try it!

Luckily it's just a simple blanket, nothing complicated like a sweater or something that has to fit. Plus, by the time the baby can critique my work, I'll be able to withhold her allowance :)

Circulars are easier on the hands, though, especially with something as big as a blanket. Do you mean the cable attached to the needles twists? If it's that, straighten the cable by dipping it in or pouring very hot water over it before you start.

If it's your work that's twisting, there's some info here as to why that happens.

I'll be happy to take a picture when I'm done! So far, so good. It'll be grey and pink. Right now it's just grey, since I'm only about 30 rows in.
Does anyone else get annoyed with knitting on a circular needle? I hate the way it twists. My grandma made us some very large blankets in her day, and never used anything but standard needles. Granted, she had to squish it all on the needle, but I'm thinking I might try that the next time a pattern calls for the circular needles. I just hate how it twists.
