The Ides of March, kind of an appropriate day to quit, really. Congrats, One whole year, that’s impressive.

I quit on New Years Day, so I’m only at the 2.5 month point. It’s tough, I miss it immensely but because Illinois enacted an indoor smoking ban in all public places, that’s the only thing that’s kept me off the squares. Going into bars after quitting used to be a minefield, now it’s not.

Keep up the good work and do something special for yourself today as a reward. If you smoked a pack a day at $6-7 a day, one year’s worth of smokes is in the $2000-2500 range. I say buy yourself something in that price range. LCD HDTV’s are nice.

ken, congrats to you, too. I got a new coffeemaker today and the hubs is making me dinner, so I’m pretty psyched!

    Congrats! So amazing.

BTW not smoking has really done wonders for your outer appearance. You look so much better now without that long black hair and your face has so much more colour! I’m not even gonna mention those awful stick arms you used to have - ugh!

    Congratulations! !!
I remember when I read your post last year about itI had already started my “quit smoking meds” but wasn’t on them long enough to start the actual quitting (it was one of those medications you had to let build up in your system for it to start working) I felt at the time that it was a great motivation to read about someone else quitting and a “sign” I was on the right path…you know how sometimes those things help? Just me? Anyway, I’m about month behind you. (april 20th). woo hoo for quitting!

A year is a great achievement. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I have quit for good five years ago this month. Congratulations!

A year? Seems like yesterday you were braving the bitter cold to sneak a smoke while I sampled goodies at LUSH. Congrats. Sounds like you’re 5×5.

  15. freakgirl on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 8:03 am

5×5? If you mean five feet tall and five feet wide, pretty much.

That’s so great - congratulations!!! I can’t believe a year flew by like that.

What’s the biggest change you notice?

  22. freakgirl on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Um, the size of my ASS.

The biggest change is that my coats don’t smell of smoke anymore and I spend a lot less time enjoying my patio. The latter part kind of sucks. I wish I could say I FEEL better but now I have asthma, which also kind of sucks.

I do exercise more now, and I feel much more in control. Like I’m not tied to the nicotine anymore, you know?

Thanks for asking; that question made me think a lot about it and now I’m feeling mighty good about myself!
