I Don’t Respond Well to Spooky Behavior

What was spooky about Walken was how he couldn’t take his eyes off his cue cards the entire time he was on camera. But it was refreshing to see the other SNL actors do Walken with their lines somewhat memorized!

Funny that in this skit they finally try to compensate for Walken’s off camera stare by going to a tight shot of his face. In all the other skits it was just odd looking.

I think that’s why they write special skits for him where he talks directly to the camera, like the gardening show (which cracked me up) or the old Continental.

Greatly enjoyed that Fred Armisen’s Walken impression also involved staring directly at the cue cards, which made their interaction so disturbing.

I think they wrote the gardening shop skit just to mock his inability to look anyone in the eye.

I loved Weekend Update (as per usual). New York to Madonna: Right back at you.

Santa gave me a carrot on Flag Day.

(Seth also made a good Hillary quip that I’ve been trying to remember all morning… anyone recall it?)

Do you mean the one where she had compared herself to Rocky Balboa? And then Seth says something to the effect of oh, you mean the washed up, over-the-hill white contender who is beaten by the charasmatic black guy?

    Heh, that was funny!

Ha, yes. Thank you– that was driving me up the wall.

And I was waiting for “Googley-eye Gardener” to be posted on NBC.com. It finally is.

I felt it was the weakest of the SNL’s since coming back from the strike. Walken’s over reliance on cue cards was bad and the only sketch that made me laugh out loud was the ‘Surprise Party’ with Kristin Wiig being her usual manic self. I thought the open with Bill and Hillary was overly shrill and biased (and would’ve said the same thing if it was pro-Obama). As always, you can count on Weekend Update bringing the funny, with the Rocky summation from Seth Meyers being right on target.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you find Walken funny. I find him funny.

I agree on the opener. I don’t really enjoy the political stuff much lately. Boring.

First off, can I just say I cracked up that he is so intent on the cue card he doesn’t realize when it’s an action…such as:

    “How you? [BIG HUG]”

He read the big hug part. When he was SUPPOSED to give him a big hug. I love walken.

I noticed that too! So funny.

Thank you! I have tears running down my face from laughing. And I really did need a good laugh today! Thank you Patrick, too, for Googly Eyes! Love!
