How Roller Derby Can Save Your Life

I keep reposting this everywhere, but it bears repeating. Pamela Ribon’s article over on Oprah.com about roller derby says every single thing I’ve wanted to tell you guys about derby, but wasn’t elegant or talented enough to say myself. If any of you have ever wondered why I am doing this, she explains it perfectly.

As someone who knows no one but you, FG, in derby (and I don’t know you, though i feel I sorta do), I found this interesting, illuminating, and thought provoking. And I say again, GOOD FOR YOU. I hope you’re finding some good times in your amazing undertaking, and that even those of us who don’t know you, but feel like we sorta do, are proud of you, and even a bit envious. Well done.

  2. Thanks, Chips.

  3. I think I am going to go buy that book… then save up to get my skates back… with the skull lugnuts. I’m done waiting for a chance at derby… that article makes me see that I need to go out & MAKE my chance. There is no waiting in derby.

That was a great, and very interesting read. Thanks for sharing it with us… I imagined that you were the writer and all of that was stuff you felt and wanted to tell us. I feel like I know you better now.

    So… what’s your derby name? :-)

  6. Amy, # Yes, that is all the stuff I’ve wanted to tell everyone!

No derby name yet…not until I pass my WFTDA test. Then I’ll let you all know.
