How Much Jail Time for Women Who Have Abortions?
Let’s say that the right-to-lifers win the abortion debate and abortions are made illegal. How much jail time should a woman who has an abortion receive? Here’s a video where someone asks pro-life demonstrators that very question. Obviously they haven’t quite thought that part out yet.

Stop asking me all these questions! Logic is hard! I’m not a lawyer!
I wonder, though, how our society would be if we imposed more of the protestors’ types of penalties instead of locking up petty drug offenders and throwing away the key? Counseling? Not such a bad idea, really.

I really don’t think they are all stupid. I think many of these people are some combination of arrogant and patronizing. And I include Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy in that second group.
While we find no reliable data to measure the phenomenon,” he wrote, “it seems unexceptionable to conclude some women come to regret their choice to abort the infant life they once created and sustained.
That’s the HEIGHT of arrogance and I can’t imagine how a woman isn’t offended by that.

Indeed. Everyone’s experience is different, and they always manage to find that one woman who says she regrets her decision. Not to belittle anybody who is forced to make that decision, but who WOULDN’T be conflicted? What really pisses me off is that they act like us pro-choicers just LOVE having abortions and after we have one, we all go out to dinner and have a party.
And saying “the infant life they once created” is absolutely disgusting if you think of girls who have been raped.

Because of shit like this, I’m not saying that I’m necessarily “happy” that conservative justice John Roberts had a seizure yesterday and probably has epilepsy. Because, you know, sucks for him and his family. But you know, I wouldn’t cry if he had to retire early in a few years because of it — especially if a Democrat is in office at the time.

We were discussing the Court recently and how scary things are getting and my friend said something like “Thing are gonna get worse, unless we get incredibly lucky and, say, Clarence Thomas is run over by a car.”

Very interesting. I’ve already shared the video with a number of people. One of the crazy things is that saying abortion is murder cannot even be defended biblically. Lakoff had a very interesting assessment of this (and why the same people who are pro-life are pro-death penalty) in one of his books.
