Haircut!
Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 03:39pmSo, I strolled into the hair salon today for a trim. My hairdresser was appalled at the state of my hair, and I don’t blame her one bit. I’ve colored it from a box too much and it’s all dried out and has no life. It was too long and I couldn’t do anything with it, really. So she asked me if she could please, please, please fix the color because it was driving her insane. I figured why not, and told her to cut off a bunch of it while she was at it. Here it is:
I’m not 100% sure how I feel about it yet, but at least it’s a change.

Question - how many self-portraits do you typically snap before you decide to go with one?
PS - hair looks nice!
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Heh, I have to take a few to find one that doesn’t make me die inside.
PS - thanks

I really like it. Plus, you can also punk it up with a little gel or something, right?
PS Nice lips.

You look gorgeous! The color is amazing!
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Thanks, Lake. The sad thing about red is that it will only be this color for about a week. Then it will fade into blah, probably.
Susie on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Love it! So cute. And your skin looks all sun kissed.
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 6:47 pm
It’s more of a flush from working out, but I’ll take sun kissed!

I always heard about red fading really quickly, but I get mine dyed red, too, and I’ve been surprised how long it holds the color. Maybe it’s the brand my hair person uses. I don’t know. Do you use permanent, or semipermanent hair coloring? I also use shampoo for red colored hair that is INSANELY expensive, but gotta say, it works…
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 7:21 pm
I think it’s semipermanent…the permanent they use tears my scalp apart. I use shampoo for red-colored hair, too, but it’s not all that pricey. Maybe I need an upgrade.

The stuff I use is by Bumble and Bumble, and it has some red pigment in it. I’m sure the pigment rinses right out, and it’s just the mildness of the shampoo that makes a difference, but I still fork over 20 bucks a bottle because I’m a total sucker.

Aveda makes some great color-infused conditioner, too…however I had to remember to clean it off of the shower walls after using it. OH…and don’t forget to wash and rinse in *cool* water instead of warm/hot. The warm water zaps dark and red dyes like you wouldn’t believe. Anyhoo, both the cut and color are fab—rock that red!
Greater Czarina on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 7:56 pm
You look faboo!
I use the Bumble and Bumble, too. It works great. Unfortunately, my last visit to the salon yielded less red and more brown - the mix was off, apparently. Ah, well, I’ll re-redden next visit.

GC, where do you buy the Bumble & Bumble? And Megan, thanks for the tip about the water temp.
Eunice on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 8:21 pm
You know what. I kinda… LIKE IT! You look good! Like a fairy actually
I was thinking of doing something like it but my face just isn’t oval! =/
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Thanks, Eunice. I like your blog!
Amy on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I don’t think I’ve ever not seen you look cute. And this new hair is no exception! You look all summery and stuff.
freakgirl on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Trust me, Amy. You only see the photos that make me look decent. Right now, for instance, I’m in glasses, my head has an indentation on it from trying on my bicycle helmet earlier (don’t ask), a zit has popped up on my left cheek, and I just ate so many m&ms that I think my face might explode.
But, thanks! I feel summery!

Very cute! I always like that slightly tussled look.
Greater Czarina on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:43 pm
FG, you can find the B&B at Bluemercury, in that new strip they attached to Bridgewater Commons. Not sure, but Sephora might have it, too.
And the hair is tres adorable!
sashamrm on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 4:32 pm
