Fox to Redo ‘Absolutely Fabulous’

The only reason I’m not getting ready to burn down Hollywood right now is because Mitch Hurwitz is attached to the project. But I’m not feeling positive.

There is no way that this will be good.

I said the same thing about The Office - think positive!

Yeah, I was thinking about that.

But for every Office, there’s a hundred Couplings or Viva Laughlins.

There’s no particular reason it can’t be good, if it’s done well. We’ve already got “The Office” and “Battlestar Galactica” to prove it’s possible to pull off a great remake. Even “Three’s Company” could (arguably) be considered a successful UK import that found a way to do its own thing based on an existing premise. Or it could suck. But if it does, it will have less to do with trying to remake something and more to do with the fact that only a small percentage of new TV shows don’t suck.

    True, true, true.

Please let Laura Kightlinger be in this, and please let them shoot an uncensored version for DVD. Otherwise, probably eh.

Laura Kightlinger is really funny - but I’ve always thought she was kind of a bad actress. And she’s too young, although I could see them going younger in the US.

Maybe since Hurwitz is on board he can get Jessica Walter!! Although she may be a tad old. She’d be good though.

Wasn’t Eddy only supposed to be in her 40s on the show?

Yea I think she’s in her 40’s. In high school I had a friend who I called Eddy and she called me Patsy haha.

I am of course curious because I love the show. But oh dear. I don’t know.

I think Eddy was in her late 40s. I remember Patsy’s age being described as somewhere between 39 and 65. HA!

Eddy turned 40 in the first season - that surprise birthday party she refuses to attend. Patsy’s age is a bit harder to clarify, just like no one ever saw her eat…

I don’t know, pardon me Americans but your track record of remaking popular series isn’t so great. And yes, I’m looking at you “Kath & Kim”.

I think we’re better at remaking reality shows. #

I’m going to watch Kath & Kim tonight, because I love Molly Shannon. But I don’t have high hopes. I’m not super familiar with the original, either, though.
