Roundup of Rage - Writing Implements Edition
Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 09:37amThe other day I saw a link to a pencil sharpener shaped like a woman on her hands and knees where, instead of a head, there is a crank, and one is supposed to stick the pencil into her ass. Charming. Today, I went over to Feministing and saw this, which is just simply unbelievable. And remember those “art” urinals shaped like women’s mouths? It’s nice to know that some people see us women as just a series of holes in which to stick things. How are any of these things funny?
Lest you think I am all doom and gloom:

I don’t care about the urinals. Or the pencil sharpener. But the fact that the doll makes sounds and in her “bad mood” tells this guy to stop putting things in her is disgusting.
But I do want that pencil sharpener in a male version with big erection, please.

Nellie was on Fresh Air with Terry Gross last week. What a great show! I meant to tell you about it. You can listen to it here:

I care about them all when I think about them as a whole. But the pen holder is just sick. I can hardly believe that it’s real.
And heh on your male version. You should make one

FYI, there is also a male version on the site that sells these things; equally gross.

The bathroom humor novelty industry is fairly easy to avoid. Stay away from Spencer gifts and the rage should subside. If it’s the mere fact that these things exist, you could have an entire Web site dedicated to various people offended by various products.

I do stay away from Spencer gifts and that ilk, but really, I think there is a difference between bathroom humor and blatant misogyny disguised as bathroom humor. Rage is appropriate for an item that makes jokes about rape.

I’m just glad they covered the pen holder’s offensive nipples…

Nipples=bad, penetration=a-okay!
