Fresh Meat

I may have mentioned over the past couple of weeks that I was about to embark on a new adventure. And I did. I have a lot to say about it, but the long and short of it is that I’ve run off and joined the roller derby. I am officially a newbie, fresh meat, whatever you want to call it, that’s me and whole bunch of other girls. Those of you who used to know me from gym class in high school are probably rolling on the floor snorting right now. It’s no secret I’m not the most coordinated or athletic chick in the room. Ever.
Apologies and Thanks
Sorry about the lack of updates. I’ve been lazy with the blog lately because I’ve been pretty stressed out with a whole bunch of stuff. Yesterday I was basically let go from my job (although they said they might call me in from time to time). I am working on getting a new one and hoping for the best. It’s been a rough year, you guys, really rough. I’m not going to lie; every time I think life is done slapping me in the face, it kicks me in the ass.
I know things will get better — I am moving onward and upward. My plan has been to keep busy, surround myself with friends and be BRAVE. So far, so good. The kindness that’s been shown to me both in the “real world” and online has at times brought me to tears. Thank you, everyone, from the bottom of my heart.
Stay tuned, kids. We’re all gonna be okay.
A Good Way to Eat a Cupcake
Lost‘s Jorge Garcia demonstrates how to eat a cupcake for maximum frosting distribution. Lisa has been eating cupcakes this way for years!
How Was Your Weekend?
This weekend was busy, busy. Our friend Nicky came up from Virginia to visit, and we kept her entertained even as she valiantly battled a massive cold. Friday night Lisa stuffed us full of homemade enchiladas and we played Rock Band until late. Saturday, we headed into the city to see American Idiot (audio), which we really enjoyed. Rock opera!
After the show, we walked over to Piano Due restaurant. It was a little tough to find (slightly tucked away off the street), but totally worth the trouble and the money. Our meals were amazing. I had an appetizer that was a large ravioli with an egg in it…when I cut into the ravioli, egg yolk spilled out, and it was LIFECHANGING. I miss that ravioli.
Yesterday, we spent the afternoon in Asbury Park, which was a bit chilly but really fun. There’s a pinball museum there, with vintage machines, and you can play them all! See them in the photos on the post below.
How was yours?
