Fit Flops
Product recommendation, all! Yesterday I got two pairs of Fit Flops for the summer. They are very cute, EXTREMELY comfortable, and help work out your calves and butt when you wear them. WIN WIN! I bought the “Oasis” style. Now I just have to get my pedicure fixed and I will be ready for the 80F temps this weekend. :)
Another Practice Down
Last night was derby practice. Beginning Sunday, we start practicing two times per week. Four hours per week on skates, four hours of ass-busting work, four hours of flying around the rink listening to the Sex Pistols and trying to just stay on my feet and not look like an idiot. Loving every minute of it.
What I’m Reading
Now that I’m unemployed again (hopefully not for long), I am catching up on some reading. Here’s what’s currently on my nightstand and in my iPhone:
Slam, Nick Hornby – This one is actually more of a YA novel, about a teen skateboarder who gets his girlfriend preggers. But I love Nick Hornby, so I want to read them all.
Going in Circles, Pamela Ribon – I’m a fan of her writing, and even if I wasn’t, how could I turn down a book about divorce and roller derby? I’m about a quarter of the way through, and have already had to put it down twice because it’s hit too close to home. But I’m sure it will all turn out fine.
Rollergirl: Totally True Tales from the Track, Melissa Joulwan – Do I have to explain? Really enjoying this one.
Just One of the Guys
An interview with Lisa Gottlieb, director of one of my favorite 80s flicks, Just One of the Guys. It’s a good read, with some interesting feminist insights, believe it or not.
