I’m Stuffed
I didn’t make Christmas cupcakes this year. But I was asked to make a cake, specifically the Malted Chocolate Cake from Baked. This cake was loverly! The frosting was like a ganache, and I used good chocolate so the frosting was even more delicious than usual. The cake itself is made with malt powder — I used Ovaltine — and the layers come out very light. In fact, so light that I cracked two of them getting them out of the pan. No matter. You couldn’t tell.

I Ain’t Gonna Lie
I’m exhausted, and my blog is reflecting that. I’m sorry for neglecting you guys. The past six months have been weird and chaotic and now with the new job and what feels like constant change in my life, I’m still having trouble finding my footing and making time for our little corner of the web here.
For the first time in years, I’m not hosting Christmas Eve and I’m heartbroken over it. I just couldn’t get it together. I didn’t even decorate this year. My parents are hosting instead, and I have to admit, even though I feel guilty, it will be nice to just show up with some bottles of prosecco and a chocolate cake. What are your plans?
