Weekend Plans?

Friday, August 01, 2008 at 11:44am

Up to anything good this weekend? I know Jason will be celebrating his birthday, so wish him well! Tonight I think we’re just going to relax and try to recover from last night’s show…I might make another zucchini bread, yum. Tomorrow we plan to see Young @ Heart at a local movie venue, and perhaps grab a beer afterward with friends. Then Sunday, we’re doing the whole Big Rock Show Thing again, when we go see The Police along with Elvis Costello & The Imposters. Please send out some good vibes that no trucks flip over on the Garden State Parkway, kthx. I’m exhausted.

Last Night, In The Swamps of Jersey…

Friday, August 01, 2008 at 08:31am

bruce & the e street band

Wow. Last night was epic. We left the house at 4:00pm and arrived home close to 3:00am. Insanity. A propane tanker accident CLOSED the NJ Turnpike yesterday afternoon, causing all sorts of mayhem. A huge thanks to every one of you that emailed or called me to let me know. Beth got in touch with us first, thank goodness, because we had no idea. We were about 5 minutes from getting on the Turnpike when she called us with an alternate route. It ended up taking us a bit over two hours to get to the stadium (it’s usually a 50-minute trip).

But all was forgiven when Bruce took the stage. My friend Jon texted me from the section below us, saying, “It’s a perfect Jersey night. Not a star in the sky.” Ha! I was hoping that I would hear Rosalita last night, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d EVER get to see Bruce & The E Street Band sing Jersey Girl. I believe my last text to Beth, who was down on the floor, was “Holy crap.” Okay, Springsteen fans, I get it now.
