Amy Poehler is Pregnant!
OMG this news makes me so happy! I just told somebody the other day that I couldn’t wait for Amy Poehler to get pregnant. I have no idea why. I can’t wait to see her do Amber preggers. JELLUS?
Coldplay Free Concert
Coldplay is going to do a free concert at Madison Square Garden. Not many details right now, but interesting publicity stunt, eh?
Well, Mike?
I saw this scrawled on the sidewalk in chalk over the weekend in Princeton, New Jersey. I can’t stop wondering who wrote it, if the author really meant it, if he/she ever got an answer, was it yes, was it no? And I also keep hearing Andie Walsh screaming in my head, “What about PROM, Blaine? WHAT ABOUT PROM!”
Prince Covers Radiohead At Coachella
Everyone is talking about Prince’s incredible Coachella set this past weekend. Stereogum has the goods.
Save Duke Gardens!
This weekend, the ladies and I visited the indoor displays at Duke Gardens in Hillsborough, NJ. You all know I’m kind of a Doris Duke freak. I’d heard about the display gardens for years, but had never seen them. Then I read in the paper that, as part of a “new vision” for Duke Estates, they will be dismantled forever in less than a month. So we made plans to visit. It took Ms. Duke more than six years to build these gardens — Italian, Colonial, Edwardian, French, English, Chinese, Japanese and Indo-Persian designs juxtaposed near desert, tropical and semi-tropical environments.
The foundation says that the gardens no longer fit into Duke Estates’ goals for being a green organization, but I don’t think this is what Doris would have wanted. Go here to find out more and if you can, please send a letter.
Photos after the jump.
Oh, Winston, Be Mine
There’s nothing better than closing out a long week with some classic Winston video. Rich, I didn’t think I could love you any harder until I saw those cowboy sheets.
I Miss You, Bill Haverchuck
A kid spikes another kid’s lunch with peanut butter cookie crumbs. A kid with a life-threatening peanut allergy. Is it wrong that sometimes I want to slap kids I don’t even know?
A Good Time
After work yesterday, I drove over to Beth’s house, changed into biking clothes, and we drove down to the D&R Canal towpath, where we cycled about 12 or 14 miles together. Aside from the bugs, WHICH WERE LEGION, it was a good ride. We chatted but rode hard enough to feel it later, saw a lot of ducks, a couple of weirdos, and ended the evening with mega-calorie-and-totally-worth it meal with some lovely pinot grigio to wash it all down. I truly enjoy evenings out with Beth, as they are few and far between due to her job demands. Beth is someone who doesn’t tolerate bullshit of any kind, and I (probably too often) use her as a sounding board/sanity check. The two of us have a similar outlook on life; one without the incessant navel-gazing that seems to plague so many people. I know that makes me sound like an incredible bitch. I’m okay with that. So yeah, a good evening. Thanks, friend!
