It’s Thursday, my busy day, so you know what that means. What are you wearing? Today I started off by grabbing a pair of Old Navy khakis out of the spring side of the closet. TOO TIGHT. After I kicked the cat and stomped my feet for a while, the geekboy reminded me that I’m on the rag and might be a bit bloated. And you know what? I never liked those pants anyway. CHARITY PILE! Pulled out some more Old Navy - a pair of wide-leg brown pants instead in a size higher. Totes comfy although I have to keep hiking them up. Stupid low-rise pants. I’m too old. Anyway, I paired the pants with a button-down shirt that has brown, blue and grey flowers. Brown loafers on the feets and boy I really like brown, eh?
Off to the dentist. Then off to the office. Then back here to pack for Florida!
Today it’s pleasant enough outside to have my office window open. I’ve been sitting here all afternoon feeling like something is missing. It’s quiet. Too quiet. Finally, I remember. I look across the street and, lo, the garage door is closed. Skateboard Boy and his family are on vacation.
UPDATE 4:38PM: They are not on vacation after all! Skateboarding has commenced; all is right with the world.
I went shopping yesterday with my mom, who treated me to some very cute new cargo shorts and some cropped pants. I know that the What Not To Wear people say that short women shouldn’t wear cropped pants, but they can suck it. I like them. I also picked up this adorable dress at Target. No idea why they cut off the model’s head, unless it’s an homage to Britney on South Park? Also grabbed some new makeup as well - has anyone used the Sonia Kashuk brand before? I adore the packaging, the way it all screws together into one piece!
Last night I dyed my hair, too. The color is nice but I think I’m ready to go a little lighter next time. I used this color but obviously it goes on darker on brown hair.
I don’t know why I just told you all that, but there you go.
Explain this, please. [via]
I thought Britney did a decent job on last night’s How I Met Your Mother. The episode as a whole wasn’t the funniest they’ve ever done, but the storyline was sweet and I thought Britney played the dorky receptionist just fine. She even made me laugh out loud once or twice.
I leave for Florida early Friday morning. I have a ton to do before then, and I don’t know how I’m going to get it all done. I haven’t even started pulling out summer clothes to try on yet…hopefully they still fit. Oh god, what if they don’t fit?
Even though he’s been absent from Hollywood for years, John Hughes’ influence remains. [via]
Remember back when we first got HBO in the 80s? And before every movie they played a little intro? Here’s a video of the making of that intro. Really supercool to see how they put it together, in the pre-CGI age. Read the rest of this entry »
Did everyone have a nice weekend? Ours was full of food and fun - my two favorite things. Saturday night the geekboy and I decided to do something different and went ice-skating. A hockey rink recently opened about a mile away and they offer public skating when the ice isn’t being used. So we went! I’d only been skating once (about three years ago) and the geekboy hadn’t been since he was a young kid. Didn’t stop us, though. The rink was nearly empty; probably due to the fact that people don’t know it’s there and being the holiday weekend. So we had a lot of room to make mistakes and flail about. It took me a few laps around to find my footing, although as soon as I let my guard down I took a hard fall right on my ass. It still hurts today. The geekboy didn’t fall at all, yay. It was really fun and I hope to return often and become more comfortable on the ice.

Happy Easter! Enjoy your Sunday. Whether it’s spent celebrating or whether it’s just a regular day - have a chocolate bunny. Jesus would have wanted it that way.

Did you see this week’s episode of South Park about Britney Spears? Genius, tragic and spot-on. Watch it here.
The other day, a bunch of gossip rags reported that Michael Stipe had “come out.” I don’t know what rocks these people have been living under, as he’s been out for years. Anyway, this is pretty amusing.
Joss Whedon. Neil Patrick Harris. Nathan Fillion. A musical.
I managed to get a couple of not-sucky photos from the Blackout Sabbath event the other night. Read the rest of this entry »

Say Happy Birthday to Laura of LaLaGirl!
I’m going to be off-site all day today, so here’s a little something for discussion.
Last night was the Rufus Wainwright show. Let me just say this: FAIL. Read the rest of this entry »
