Weekend is Over
We had a lovely weekend. Still recovering! Marjon and Ivon left yesterday, and it was sad to see them go, but they have many more adventures awaiting them. Today I’m alone in the house for the first time since last week, and it’s totally weird. I don’t know what to do with myself. Over the past few days we went to the beach, met Beth for dinner, visited a bird sanctuary, walked around a wildlife refuge, baked cupcakes, hosted a barbeque and ended the weekend with some shots. We had so much fun.
Marjon and Ivon are truly wonderful people, and such great guests. I hope they had as nice a time with us as we did with them.
Early Weekend
Our Dutch travelers arrived yesterday afternoon, a bit tired from a bumpy plane ride but otherwise in fine spirits. I made a pan of baked ziti, heated up some garlic bread, opened some wine, and we hung out until they could no longer stay awake. I am up only because Meena forced me. I’m waiting for coffee to brew, just took a prescription allergy pill (cross your fingers!) and am waiting to see Blondie and Lily Allen perform on The Today Show. Later, we’re going to fight traffic and head down to the Jersey Shore. It’s going to hit 90F today!
I Wasn’t Overreacting
Good to know I wasn’t overreacting about the droves of drunken children at the Gwen Stefani show the other night. An assemblywoman is actually calling for the venue to have its liquor license revoked after dozens of kids were rushed to the hospital with alcohol poisoning that very evening. Horrifying. One kid was eleven. I will say that I am NOT DOWN with revoking their license. This drinking was being done in the parking lot, not inside the venue. As always, the actions of a few boneheads ruin it for everyone. [thx to Rona for the heads-up]
Visitors Today!
Marjon and Ivon arrive this afternoon sometime. So excited! I’m still struggling with allergies/head cold/bird flu or whatever it is. I feel awful, but I will rally.
Knocked Up Babymaker
Ew. The Knocked Up website has a “babymaker” feature where you can upload pictures of two people and see what their baby might look like. After the jump is the freak of nature that apparently would be unleashed on the world if the geekboy and I spawned.
