Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner
This is, like, the greatest news ever. Peter and Amanda, together again!
2007 Comic-Con
I missed Comic-Con this weekend, but the geekboy didn’t. I’m really bummed I couldn’t go, because it looked like a fabulous time. The geekboy and Greater Czarina can recap their experience in the comments, if they’d like. Here are some photos the geekboy took for me.
Oscars!
Last night was our annual Oscar party. I was worried that nobody would show up, as we were getting a snowstorm. But we ended up with a good crowd, and fun was had by all. This year I won the trophy for “Most Correct Picks,” which I believe is a first for me. I thought Bluebunny had it all wrapped up, but I pulled ahead in the end. Woot woot! Oh, and the cupcakes tasted like heaven.
Per tradition, we gave porn names to all the Best Picture nominees. This year was a tough one. Here’s what we came up with (warning: some of these are really nasty):
Home Alone
I decided to skip Comic-Con. I want this neck/shoulder thing to get better, and walking around all day with a camera hanging from my neck probably isn’t a great idea. It’s pissing me off…I wake up each morning and I feel okay. As the day progresses, the soreness increases, and by the time I go to bed, it just sucks. The weight of my head on the pillow causes pain that keeps me awake, and when I do fall asleep, I wake up with a pounding headache. Jersey Girl went through something similar over the holidays and it lasted forever. I think hers was way, way worse than mine, though. I know that this just has to work itself out, and I’m helping it along with Aleve and some anti-inflammatories. Oh, and wine. Not at the same time. Anyhow…now I’m home alone, all day, with nothing to do. I already baked my cupcakes for tomorrow’s party last night, and they’re in the freezer now. I’ll frost them tomorrow to keep it fresh. Maybe I’ll do a kitchen inventory and see if I have enough stuff to make a coffeecake or something to surprise Geekboy and Charlie B. with when they get home tonight. EDITED: Okay, I made a coffeecake. With streusel topping and raspberry jam. I want to eat it now, please.
Cupcake Advice
I’m making cupcakes this weekend for an Oscar party get-together. I plan on making champagne cupcakes, which are a nice, airy white cake. I’m still waffling on the topping, though. I was thinking of doing a thick chocolate ganache poured on top. Or should I do a champagne buttercream? I’m leaning towards ganache, but buttercream sounds good, too. Ganache with buttercream piping on top? Oh, I don’t know. What would YOU want on YOUR champagne cupcake? I also have some edible pearls that I want to use for ELEGANCE, baby.
