Jill Sobule
On Saturday night, we went to see Jill Sobule. It was a concert in a church sanctuary; a very nice idea, actually, since the acoustics in those types of places are usually quite excellent. When we got there, we noticed that it was a real family-looking crowd with people of all ages. I wondered if Jill would edit her show, as she can be quite political and has a lot of questions about god and the church. I shouldn’t have worried. She opened with this. I love her so much. During the show, she borrowed a cellphone and called her mom back in Denver. She held the phone up the mic and Mom chimed in to sing along with Big Shoes. Too cute. During intermission, the geekboy bought me a t-shirt and had Jill sign it. Yay!
More Cupcakes and Weekend Wrapup
Good morning. We went to a party this weekend, and I brought cupcakes, as usual. These came out just okay, in my opinion. I didn’t care for how the frosting turned out at all. But the kids seemed to like them, which is more important. Aside from cream cheese, I still haven’t found a frosting recipe I really like. I need to start experimenting with different recipes. Anyway, the party was lots of fun. The geekboy got to see some old friends and I got to hang out with Susie and play with Joanne’s baby and drink a beer and eat pizza. Who can complain about that? Not me. Not even when the kids started playing bongos and I thought my head might screw itself off my neck and whiz around the room. On the way home it started snowing, and now we finally have our first real snow (whoop dee doo, two whole inches) of the season. Oh, and last night as I was coming upstairs to go to bed, I tripped on the stair and smashed my toe and somehow managed to pull half my toenail up. You guys, OUCH.

Weekend Plans
Are you doing anything fun or interesting this weekend? We have another busy one. Tonight I plan to get together with Lisa to watch some movies and perhaps enjoy a few cocktails. Tomorrow night we’re going to see Jill Sobule, and Sunday afternoon we have a get-together at a friend’s place. At some point I need to make some cupcakes to bring…I think I’ll make chocolate. And as for today? At noon I have an appointment with my insurance agent to update some policies and whatnot. How very adult of me.
